Deal of the day. Seen numerous deals for this price at vMall with code. Now you can get it with Amazon's amazing customer service and you will also receive £20 Amazon credit if you purchase this phone!

This only has one 4G SIM slot and one 2G one/microSD slot as people are pointing out in the comments. Limited it's usefulness dramatically in my eyes.
- omgpleasespamme

The £20 credit will be taken off automatically off your next purchase. It won't show up on your gift certificate balance. Should be applied to your account by December 19th.

I can't see any reference to the £20 voucher you get when purchasing the phone, if someone could tell me where details on that are, it would be hugely appreciated.

But still a great deal and avoids all the crap you have to do on the VMall website, where you have to request a £40 voucher code and only have one hour to claim on their website!

From a fortnight of using -

Good points -

Great battery life, comfortable size, bright screen, unlocks in micro seconds with the fingerprint reader. Marshmallow beta being rolled out OTA if you sign up. Comes with screen protector already applied, and headphones and charger with cable.

Bad points -

No NFC so don't expect to use the Fingerprint reader for Android Pay. EMUI is a bit Marmite (install Google Now Launcher). Hard to get good cases - sent three tat cases back to Amazon already, ended up with a Nilkin black clip-around case.

Great price - wonder if Amazon will refund me the difference...

There are a few guides on the internet, try YouTube. I think it basically involves removing the gold bit from the sim card and sticking it to the rear of the micro sd card in the right position. Probably not worth the risk for your primary sim but if you have a second sim you can live without for a couple of days waiting for a replacement if it goes wrong then use that one.

some great pros.
my concerns about the cons (from reviews) - EM UI, stuttering due to poor RAM management, lag on high end games (cheap GPU), stable marshmallow might be as long as 6 months wait
messiahcomplex8
14 Dec 15 #44
hummm, tempting. My Umi Iron phone has been a let down so far so this looks like a decent shout especially with the Amazon credit... However the reviews for this aren't stellar (3 stars on expert reviews and techradar, although at the price point of £250) mostly due to what sounds like a poor battery life despite the storage size, fingerprint reader not working well and build quality being suspect.

Got a good few hours to mull over it I guess!
BungalowBill to messiahcomplex8
14 Dec 15 #46
Build quality is fine, battery is giving me 50% longer than my Nexus 5 did, I can end a day with 40% left despite using it heavily (including near constantly for 3 hours whilst commuting), and the fingerprint reader is also fine - never fails to unlock for me - key there is to take care when training it, make sure you pay attention to which parts of the finger it is telling you to put on the sensor.
luckysalt1 to messiahcomplex8
14 Dec 15 #55
TechRadar review seems a load of crap IMO, they **** off the left button saying that its just a button that links to google now and thats it, its not its a programmable button that links to three different apps of your choice, one tap links to one, two taps links to another, hold it links to a third, this is a really good feature IMO and for them to not even know about it makes me doubt the rest of their review.
TechRadar seems to IMO have biased towards iphones and Samasung and just plain don't like the lesser known phones. Almost as if they're pitching towards the masses. Everyone else gives this phone at least 4/5 and go way more in depth with their reviews.
mamboboy to messiahcomplex8
14 Dec 15 #74
The fingerprint reader on it is awesome, supposedly one of the fastest around!

The battery life isn't great at the moment, but I honestly think it's down to the idle drain bug in android. During usage it's awesome, so I assume it'll be very good once upgraded to MM.

This is a smoking hot deal.

Pros:
Looks good (subjective)
Great build quality
Camera can produce very good photos
Decent screen and resolution
Good battery life
Quick charge (with standard cable)
Very quick unlock with scanner
Useful programmable button
Selfie camera with flash

Cons:
EMUI version of Android is not everyone's cup of tea (I think it's fine)
GPU not too great, only really a problem if you play intensive games
No NFC, a deal breaker if you use it regularly, if you don't know what NFC is it's unlikely to be an issue

Overall, I got it a few months ago for £209. For the equivalent of £189 this is the best value out there.

14 Dec 15 #57
Ah great, thanks for the feedback! Even more tempted now.

fair point, earlier google search placed techradar and expertreviews as the top two reviews earlier (seems to have changed now though), and both rate it 3/5 (and didn't have time to read others). Will have a read of the other reviews later, but aside from the quibbles about battery life and build quality even those reviews didn't have anything particularly bad to say about the phone so looks good!

More like 1 - 2 months at the most. Huawei have just launched a 32GB Honor 7 in China that comes with Marshmallow already installed.

Not true. Either slot 1 or slot 2 can be used for 3G/4G as you just use the sim manager in Settings to tell the phone which SIM slot to use for Data. The SIM slot used for Data is set up as 3G/4G

I run my Contract SIM in Slot 1 as 2G, and EE Christmas PAYG SIM in slot 2.

The only time you'll run into an issue is when you use an odd network like Three that don't provide 2G fallback.

Tempted by this. Reading the reviews is a nightmare - one in particular has a real go at the battery - most of the others say it is better than the S6. Does anybody know what the warranty is on this and if it has to go back to China or will be UK serviced?
BungalowBill to kevin1961
14 Dec 15 #66
It's sold and fulfilled by Amazon, so I doubt you'll have much of a problem.

As for battery, maybe I have low expectations coming from a Nexus 5 which is notorious for battery life, but I find this is of a huge magnitude better. And when it gets Marshmallow, with the Doze feature, I expect it to get better still.

YES so if you use a 3 PAYG for backup calls (which is what I used to do) you are effectively screwed as you won't get a signal on it at all UNLESS you make it the data sim. I guess my "sim 1" reference was in regards which sim you use as main for data so you are right, BUT let's not pretend that if you put the 3 sim in slot 1 and use it as non data it will work, because it won't :P

I bought two excellent cases from Aliexpress. iPakycase http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Huawei-Honor-7-case-Ipaky-Brand-PC-Frame-Silicone-back-cover-cellphone-case-for-Huawei-Honor7/32455837097.html and Nillkin Frosted Shield http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Huawei-Honor-7-case-Nillkin-Super-Frosted-shield-hard-PC-back-cover-case-for-Huawei-Honor7/32411063981.html

Both fit the device perfectly. I prefer the iPakycase as it fully protects all edges of the phone thanks to a rubberised cover that is clamped in to place with a hard plastic frame. All buttons can be used as normal due to the case having built-in buttons, and there is a cutout at the back for the fingerprint sensor.

Yes, it supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 and I use an Aukey charger from Amazon. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Qualcomm-Certified-Aukey-Charger-Included/dp/B00KD1XQT8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1450166742&sr=8-2&keywords=aukey+quick+charge+2+0

Battery was crap with the original B100 ROM but improved significantly with the B121 update, and tweaked with the B130 and B140 updates. Some testers report that battery life is even better with the Marshmallow Beta.

Personally I can get over 2 days usage out of the battery before it needs a full charge. And with Quickcharge it doesn't take long to fully charge the battery, even with my Blackberry Playbook charger. I also have an Aukey charger as listed above.

Honor have a UK repair centre so no worries about devices being sent off abroad. Warranty is 2 years in accordance with EU law.

for anyone who didn't get the £20 voucher redeemed at checkout then just email Amazon and explain that you purchased this phone before the end of the promotion and you didn't receive any confirmation of a £20 voucher.

Can anyone find the actual terms and conditions for the offer? When I clicked on the "Find out more" link on the original offer page it took me to something about a laptop offer. I just assumed it was per phone (quantity when ordering was limited to 3, I figured deliberately to set a max for the offer). Bit miffed because obviously if it was per order I would have just split the purchase into two orders from two different accounts. Doesn't make any sense. I got through to 2nd line support but all they could do was say they'd look into it and get back to me in 5 days.

16 Dec 15 #115
@sam1970 - the credit is "mystery credit" that you cannot view anywhere, but should be automatically applied on checkout to an eligible order. At the moment it is not clear what items it may or may not be eligible for - the 2nd line support person I spoke to said usually this type of credit has restrictions (eg just books, just digital etc.) - they would find out and get back to me in 5 days. Bit disappointed really... certainly the worst experience I've had with amazon.

I just tried to buy the same phone again (just testing) and I was given the option to use the £20 credit...I am going to try it with other items

I think for the £20 credit to apply, the item needs to be sold by Amazon, not be another seller..even if it was fullfilled by Amazon

anyone got any recomendations for a clear hard case? ta.

I finally got an answer from Amazon support. It is £20 per handset so chase them up if you ordered more than one I didn't get it. One £20 went as the mystery credit, the other £20 seems to have been added as regular gift card balance.
