Brand new laptop with a 1 year warranty from "Laptop Outlet" via ebay, certainly one of the best laptops I have seen for the price - and as far as I know the lowest price for this particular model. And they are still promising delivery by Xmas. Actual price is £269.99 but standard postage is ~£5.

I got mine two days from order. From opening and starting it, it would not connect to virgin router (or any other). It would connect every 10 attempt and would then not connect when I start it. I tried talking to virgin and HP who in the end suggested they would collect it and repair it within 8 working days. I thought it was too much bother for a brand new laptop so I just requested to return it to seller. Anyone else had similar troubles? I have the option of either refund or getting a new one so just want to check if it was a one off or it has happened to others too! Thanks.

Sounds more like a driver issue than a hardware issue, but I would expect it to be a one off thing.

Paid £300 a couple of weeks back.
Upgraded the ram to 8GB already by spending £20 at Crucial.
Happy with things so far, will be trying some video editing on it over Xmas so will be interesting to see how it performs compared to my old Dell 1545 running 2Gb on Vista.

I shall use for video editing also. What was the crucial memory you purchased (4GB single stick?). Then in can consider opening up to add a SSD too.

TYou would be better off going with eBuyer then. They have only sold 1 at £329, so bound to come down again, unless they are out of stock.

For anyone wanting to upgrade to an SSD drive it's a fairly simple 10 min job, also looks like it's 1 x 4GB of RAM for those asking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ey6KxAly9cQ

Unfortunately it would invalidate the warranty

sorry, its not that simple, you also have to do something with your operating system, anybody suggesting an hdd uograde for windows 10 shiuld link to simple instructions for the software side of things as well, i suspect this to be the more problematic oart of the entire process

A friend got this laptop from ebuyer when it was £280. You'd be hard pressed to find a i5 laptop for £275 so this is a bargain! The only negatives about this is laptop is upgrade-ability, there are no access panels for the RAM, HDD and wifi card which means you have take the whole thing apart to upgrade. (Thus voiding warranty) The touchpad has a rough texture, which is not a nice feeling. The screen which is usually the worst part of a HP laptop, like my Envy 15 2014 had the most awful TN panel known to man, which I upgraded to a nice IPS panel. Luckily the G4 is not bad, the viewing angles are fine for a laptop for this price.

Thanks. Been waiting for one to get for my daughter for Xmas. From what I've been reading on the other thread, this should be fine for Minecraft and Sims 4

Does anyone know if this has 2 x 2GB RAM or 1 x 4GB RAM (allowing for an extra 4GB?)

According to HP's website this model comes with 1x4gb, so yes you should be able to add another stick.
