My mates got this machine. The negatives I could see are it doesnt have a 90c boil wash max 60c.

The wash cycles are long and there's no 30min cycle.

He tried selling it to me.

So we've estalished you don't need an 11kg washer, or an 8kg washer, or indeed a 5kg washer. You just need a washer with a large drum and perhaps a large drawer. These exist, without being 11kg models.

Arguably, you may be better off with a machine that has a better spin performance - this B rated model maybe able to wash the duvet but it isn't going to get it very dry at the end. Perhaps that's why you struggle with getting it out?

But well done on your Hotpoint lasting almost two years...clock is ticking.

Not about the weight ,its the size - Doh ! Try getting one through the door and closing it ! I had a 8kg model and couldn't physically get a Kingsize quilt in . When I replaced the washer I bought the 11kg for that precise reason . No need to be an armchair expert (failed) just because you can do maths and are on this site :confused:

Kingsize is 225cm x 220cm = 2.25m x 2.20m = 4.95 square meters.

A 9 tog goose down duvet weighs 352 grammes per square meter.

So 4.95 x 352 = 1742.4g or 1.8Kg.

Most washers can handle a 2kg load just fine.

You're right, lots of armchair experts on here.

A Kingsize Goose Down Duvet? - Good Luck with washing one in a 6 or 8kg machine :confused: - you've obviously never tried it so please comment on things you actually know about :man: - Although I know that's not too common on HUKD :disappointed:

Our Hotpoint washing machine is over 15 years old & despite 2 new sets of carbon brushes and a new door hinge (child swung on it) it's still going strong despite having a 1600rpm spin!

You don't need an 11kg machine to wash a duvet.

Had one for a couple of years now - Great machine - wash your duvets (even heavy ones ) regularly . Still going strong - So all the doubters and critics on my post years ago - You got it wrong !

Looks pretty good although the cycle do look a little slow, I guess to be expect for the size and speed?

I suppose the plus side is you can fit a little more in it and it looks pretty efficient.

I paid £298 for the 1400 spin one when PayPal did the 20% off spends a couple of months ago. Great machine but the cycles are very slow.

I have never had much luck personally with hotpoint, but heat added as it is a good deal

As I say its been great and certainly worth the bit of extra dosh compared to a 6 or 8 kg model as you can do duvets in it .
Choices with Duvets (mine are king size ) pay £20 + each to get them washed , find a Laundrette (£10 +) , bin and replace every 6 months or have a washer they will fit into .

Had mine 22 months now , not missed a beat , all the fools who commented on the original thread can now admit their ignorance .:man:
