Cheers op treated the missis for Xmas & ordered using £24.50 in Clubcard vouchers bargain if it only lasts a year will be worth it.

I've noticed lime scale builds up and then iron is not as good as it was. This time I've gone for a filter free one and wash out boiler. I really can't keep up replacing filter every 4 weeks. If this is filter free then it seems good enough for the price. Also note that Tescos on the odd occasion lower the price of some steam generator irons for as low as £37.50

agreed, regardless of how well you treat them.. they break down after a couple of years...
given how expensive they, you would want one that lasts as long as possible. always read the reviews carefully even if its a deal!

I've been through a few steam generators but that's because I didn't look into the features. Look out for highest pressure bar , steam shot output, anti-scale function, water tank capacity.
