If you were considering a bourbon, rather than a Scotch, could I suggest Makers Mark. If you can get access to Costco, they are doing a gift set for just under £23. It includes a 70cl bottle, a glass and an ice ball mould.

An excellent quality scotch for very little cost.
Agreed, that everyone's opinion will vary.
Sure I paid £26 just last week for this in Tesco. Never mind.

Glad I can help. To be honest, JD goes up and down in price throughout the year on occassion, this stuff doesn't really.
I will get a bottle, was wondering because JD is £15 on offer at sainsbury's but wanted to get him to try something new, and £23 is not that much more if he will enjoy it.
Thank you Evy

Looking for a different whiskey for my old man this xmas, his faveourtie is Glenfiddich, last year I bought him Jack Daniels for a change, and he enjoyed it, asking for advice from any whiskey drinkers, would he like this ? I know whiskey connoisseurs can be picky, so expert advice needed please.
Thanks

Whisky is subjective and everyone likes something different, but this is a good choice with broad appeal. If he enjoyed JD, this is miles beyond that in terms of flavour.

This would be a safe bet then. If nothing else, Highland Park produce quality whisky.
Excellent find Op, cheaper than the cheapest it was last year.

Any idea of the sort of thing your friend likes? I enjoy it, it's got good flavour. Little bit smoky and sweet, but not overpoweringly so. It's a good step up from entry level malts like Glenfiddich/Glenlivet if you're starting out too, IMO of course.
If they're a whisky fan in general, they'll probably appreciate it.

Usually try and grab one of these whenever on offer. One of my favorites.

This is another option, it's a bourbon so along similar lines to JD, but superior (IMO). Also in Tesco for around the £22 mark.
