Here it comes again. The game that made everyone hate this thing called Steam. "WHAT??? I have to activate this thing over the internet? Err..oh and once I activate it I can't give my game away to friends or family, or raise money for good causes by giving it to a charity shop?" BAAHH, let those children in need stay in need eh...and then eventually years later they think it's the best thing ever.
One of the last games Valve needed to bother making before just twiddling their thumbs and flogging other people's work instead. :)
*Game may activate on Steam*

271. So what does that mean. :stuck_out_tongue:
There won't be a Half Life 3 - Valve have retired as developers.

Well, not really, considering that before Half Life 2 there was.....NO game on the planet that needed this ridiculous new-fangled internet connection - and pretty much needed to be "always on" because Steam tends to throw a fit if it finds out it isn't hooked up to Valve 24 hours a day. And that in an age where most people still just had dial-up made Valve oh so very popular with gamers.
Now it's just a split between "oh please Valve, yes do anything you want with my ownership rights because you are the most wonderful digital distribution platform in the whole wide world..yes you are" and the rest of us who are "urrghhh, whatever, just let me start the game through your silly malware".

This is exactly what plays in my head every time someone complains about a non-Steam service

HL2 was the game that broke most people's resolve on not buying into Valve's digital dream. It doesn't surprise me that PC gamers don't want to have to deal with multiple retailers to do something they didn't want to in the first place.
If it's unavoidable, but i can choose how many hot pokers will be forcibly inserted up my ass, i'd rather have 1 than 5 you know what I mean?

Can't believe this is 11 years old now lol. Still got my original version somewhere. Good price, but surely all PC gamers have this by now. Heat added

 Lol, I actually got stung by that 'new' policy back in the day, I bought the game second hand for £15 without reading the box.... felt pig sick shortly after when I tried to play it!
