Cool. It's showing for me, and I also used it last time - on the complete Led Zep album set which would have been around £45 but I got it for half that.

The Complete Smiths (100 tracks) is cracking value for just over a tenner!
I picked up an Underworld superdeluxe album version last month and got the other one this month. (£20.99 RRP, got for £10.49). Worth checking out if you like Underworld - there's way more on there than just the album... remixes, B-sides, live stuff... Had the offer 3 months in a row now, though forgot to use it before it expired the first month.

I didn't have to put a code in, so can't say for sure, but there is a Redeem button on the left menu, three up from the bottom. If you click on it a popup appears that says Enter gift card or promo code.

Given, after some research the software normally used to play google music supports most file types including flac but converts them to 320kbps for playback I would suggest full resolution is a no no :disappointed:

Just tried this .. charged me full price 9.99 for the Album plus you can only play it on the Google music player as the music will not appear in your storage device to sd card .. so you won't be able to download it to your computer to play either. ..
Amazon music is much better as it let's you down load to your other devices as well ...

This must've changed yesterday, then. I was able to download the Steve Reich album I bought (all 83 tracks) as a zip file, at about 9pm on Tuesday. I extracted the tracks to my NAS, and it's playing nicely with iTunes.
Can't think what Google are up to ending the ability to download (if your assertion is correct). I've downloaded every album I've bought from Google Play. And anyway, Amazon wanted £40.49 for the album I paid £20.49 for on Tuesday (thanks again, OP!), so would not have been at all better for me on this occasion.
Oh, wait: on Tuesday, as every time before, it did pop up a warning saying the purchased content could be downloaded only twice. Were you attempting a third download when it failed?

heroone1 mentioned an SD card - so maybe it's a mobile thing? I've never had problems downloading on PC (click on three dots next to album to get menu with download as an option.)
