Wonderful insightful indepth review of Lidl, must stop shopping in there for the fresh veg(which does quite rightly smell, strangely of veg)and yes the people in there smell unlike the shoppers in other stores who have no fragrance at all.

Lidl and Aldi are really putting pressure on the big supermarkets this year.
They really must be a thorn in the sides of Tesco, Morrison's et al.

Thanks, not tried Lidl normally go Aldi. Are there products a similar quality to Aldi for fresh meat and veg. Thinking of getting the turkey there
androoski to Chickedy
17 Dec 153#36
I use both often. Generally speaking I would say that they are pretty similar quality - as you can pick up both excellent and also dreadful items in both. The shops are slightly different,. Lidl is more a of a food shop and has less of those non-food products than Aldi and Lidl will be tidier.

Don't bother going to lidl the fruit and veg are poor quality, and the chicken always goes off 2 days before the date on the front of the pack .. and 90% off the staff are NOT English and can hardly speak any English . I do however shop at Aldi and have done for the last 3 years, and the quality is soooo much better than even sainsburys . the staff are always very helpful and happy and I will shop with them forevermore ..

The vouchers don't stack with staff discount. I went in to get the £50 whiskey and my mate served me but it removed the £10 voucher and gave me £5/10% off. :disappointed:
So I reckon if you spend about £65-70, 20% should bring it to £50, which means you can still use the voucher.
£70 of shopping, including turkey and Xmas bits and bobs for about £40 seems ok!

I actually meant the stores smell! Everyone I have been in doesnt smell good at all, whereas you go into tesco, sainsburys, asdas and aldis and they all smell fresh. I have had bad experiences with a lot of the food bought from Lidl and find that out of all the supermarkets, they are the worst. We use Aldi for 75% of our weekly shop and go to savers, home bargains, b&m, poundland and the co-operative for everything else. We sometimes pick up stuff from Asda and Sainsburys, and Tescos is good for the odd offer, but there isnt one nearby. Not even the 1kg of nutella on offer at Lidls could tempt me in. That better?

Lucky him. I must day, got some of their pan chocs in the summer in glasgow, very nice, 3 for £1 I think. The store did have that unique Lidls smell though! £10 off if using for booze isnt bad I suppose, so I give it hot for that
I also use all the shops depending on where the deals are - like a proper HUKDer, I have no loyalty whatsoever!

how strange. I have shopped in both. Lidl fruit and veg is better and doesn't go off as quickly as Aldi in my experience. as for damp cardboard perhaps your nearest store has incontinent customers ? :disappointed::disappointed:

I dont doubt that some stores are fine, but EVERY Lidls I have been in (at least seven or eight) has this odour.
I think this, plus fact I have felt unwell 2 or 3 times after buying and eating stuff from there, has put me off forever.
We do like the pastry though, and some of the frozen offers that pop up now and again are exciting, but they have always sold out on the few times we have ventured in.
For us, Aldis beats Lidls hands down interms of quality, consistency, service, overall price, choice and shopping experience. We are not alone, Aldis did not win supermarket of the year for nothing!
For £10 of if buying booze this time of year, it is a winner though. We hardly drink, so useless to us

This site was designed for people to comment and share! People have been commenting directly at me, so I have replied a few times, hardly trolling! As for 8 visits, I have been in Lidls a lot more than 8 times, they have been around a while and in past circumstances and convenience have dictated, its called consumer choice. Just because I have a different view from you and others about the place, does not warrant abuse or ridicule. A 14 year old girl, and two 12 year boys agreed with me last night, the place has a funny smell, although admittedly, there is bakery smell in the mix now. I can only arrive at conclusion that Either Lidl employees or fanatics are commenting a lot on this thread now, which is sad. Voucher is good, always said that. this comment is posted every Lidl/Aldi deal,it's unbelievably easy to spend £40/50 in either shop.
They really must be a thorn in the sides of Tesco, Morrison's et al.
Thanks OP!
Merry Xmas Happy :stuck_out_tongue:

P.S. I can personally guarantee that my BF does not smell! (Well only of nice aftershave!!)
So I reckon if you spend about £65-70, 20% should bring it to £50, which means you can still use the voucher.
£70 of shopping, including turkey and Xmas bits and bobs for about £40 seems ok!

They have great reviews on here

I'm going to lidl this lunchtime, I'll have a sniff - but I don't think it's the shop so much as the customers.....
as for cleanest stores I think waitrose with a close runner up of sainsburys.
We hardly drink, so useless to us
(Just kidding everyone before you crucify me!)
Personally I love Aldi over Lidl. I find it cheaper (cereal, nuts, pizzas, yoghurts, cheese, fruit & veg & more) and it has a lot more of what I need for my family shopping than Lidl.
You are the only person who thinks Lidl smells (it does, but only of fresh bakes bread) so can you leave the thread alone now , please, so we can try and easily find where to find this voucher and how long it lasts for.
Thanks
Only ever had one bad thing in about 7 years.
Love their food weeks The staff in our branch are very nice. Would recommend but do shop elsewhere as well.
This one http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6bWsAiLK2OA/UffxGkpbm9I/AAAAAAAAA0o/EYwytubUSmM/s1600/Putinoff+Platinum+(2).JPG (some reviews say better than Grey Goose, might be worth a try). Actually five times distilled.
I personally think Lidl is great. Tesco get a lot less of my money these days. Their fresh bread is nicer and their fruit and veg is better.
My only issue with this deal would be being seen buying any of these right wing rags. OK! it is
I might ask why do you even bother going there leave the bargains to us that apprieciate Lidl??
You are obviously never going to stop making this thread about yourself so can you just do the rest of us a favour, when you find out where the coupons are and how long they last could you please let us know.
Lidl News or tomorrow in one of the news paper mentioned by op.
It is hard to follow because of one persons obsession with the place
EXCLUSIVELY?
I'm really struggling to get what you're trying to convey there?
Glutton for punishment or just a sad troll?
Another muppet added to my ignore list
Just because you are not insulting or rude does not mean you are not a troll.
You have trolled this thread relentlessly with one ridiculous opinion which has no bearing on the thread whatsoever. An opinion that not one person has agreed with, by the way.
Update:
Got it now... seems it's in with TV supplement, that I didn't get till going back to the shop.
I simply asked you nicely whether you could stop trolling the thread just until we could suss out when , and where the vouchers where and when they ran out. As I said, your posts were making the thread very hard to follow and it is a money saving site not a chat site, as you seem to believe.
Either it doesn't come in Northern Ireland editions or Tesco is sneakily removing competitors promotions from national newspapers
