It does come with a hard-drive, in the form of 32GB eMMC (which is flash storage, but slower than an SSD). It also comes with an extra 64GB 'SSD' on the inside of the case. However, check out this analysis.
It looks like the eMMC is quite a bit slower than most devices of that type. I have a Voyo A1 which delivers around 176MB/s read and 76 write, compared to the 77 & 30 that this guy reported.
The 64GB 'SSD' is even slower, and his tests with a simple USB stick showed that it had faster read, but slower write. An actual SSD connected via USB would be a better bet here.
I think overall, its made to a price and it would be a fine media centre that doesn't rely on super-quick random disk access, but I suspect that its use as a desktop replacement would not be as good as some similarly-priced competitors.

So tempting but did buy the cenovo one that was on offer a month ago and thats excellent. Will say though with Gearbest the delivery times can be sometimes slow but if you can wait this is a scorching deal

Like which one? I'm looking for a device to use as a media player, and if the processor is good enough to watch movies at 60fps with svp, according to their forums, this one should works fine at 720p, but not at 1080p

I'm not really sure what would be ideal for your requirements. I think SVP is more CPU/GPU limited than disk-speed limited to be honest, and I'm not sure which chipsets SVP has been streamlined for. I'd really check the forums to see.
This is the first I've read about SVP, so I'll check it out on the Voyo and my Chuwi Vi8 and see how it performs.
[EDIT] Been testing it as lower than 1080p resolutions and it's struggling a little bit on the movies I'm testing with. I'm pretty sure that you might need something a bit beefier for this. Although I was testing with the Hitman movie and around the 24 minute mark there's a lot of car driving/sideways scrolling stuff, and there's a marked improvement in the playback quality. Thanks for the heads-up on this product.

i'm impressed by this, seems like quite a powerful bit of kit, I'm currently using an amazon fire tv for my main streamer, but this looks very decent for the money. does it come with a remote though? anyone got one setup with a remote? (i've got a harmony one - I'm aware of flirc) but would prefer a remote out of the box for xbmc...

Your tv, av, phone or universal remote will work fine on xbmc. I use Kore app.

I got the 64Gb ssd ver, and its broken on arrival. In the middle of sorting out with gearbest. They not willing to pay return postage since its the products deflected. I saw the forum 99% of the customer who brought this has the same problem, it wont turn on. This is due to a loose connection from the battery inside to power up. Its a hardware issue. Beware guys. I brought this from gearbest when it was on offer at £70 for the 64GB ssd

My one didn't come on as well, the power only stuck on red light. Contacted Gearbest but I've not heard anything back from them. Very disappointed as am stuck with a worthless TV box.

Gearbest denies receiving back items and paypal then refuses to pay, even if recorded delivery. Be it here or to China at great cost. Many of the items they send are defective but not all items, most items are OKish. However it is the dodgiest big web seller out of HK. They have conned tens of thousands and only offer a few dollars in vouchers for sending broken items, not sending or sending much cheaper items "by mistake". They will not pay cookie roysalties and other monetizations either, bunch of crooks basically. I guess they will be banned here sharpish too once they do not cough up after a while. You have a 2 out of 3 chance of getting something as ordered and working, probably. If stung, forget paypal, contact your bank card section to take it up with paypal.

The last android box I bought from Gearbest which was posted here was a disappointment. Received it after 1 month and it didn't even come on the whole thing was blank. Am not saying all their tv boxes are like that but I would not be buying again.

There is no way on fixing it, unless you open up the case and solidering the loose cable in some machine, but however i saw forum posts as the unit were all normal inside and they had the same issue. So i am not taking a risk to opening up to see because the temper glass is fairly easy to break. Gearbest told me they could refund 30USD and i keep the unit or i need to pay postage sending back to them to china. So in the end i put a dispute in paypal and its in the middle of sorting it out

I have just ordered one of these and when I chose UK plug with the 64gb ssd , the price dropped to £59.
Note that PayPal converted the price to just a tad over sixty quid though....bargain!

arrived yesterday. no response from gb yet. its the battery in them there all duds!
should be outputting 3.7v but there are bad solder or something. mine was only pushing 3.2v, I have ripped it to bits now and have a possible fix. as I was not sending it back at my cost as it was d.o.a
we will see how the fix holds up

Quick updates, Paypal still sorting out as gearbest refuse to give full refund before sending the item back to them. But heres a quick fix that i did to get it working. You need an external battery charger i got a xiaomi 10000mAh plugged that one on the mini tv box and it started charging up the internal battery. Then i could boot up the machine. But for the real fix, its due to the soldering on the loose battery cable inside. Which i still not intended to do. Dont have the soldering kit to do so. If someone has fixed it without having to open the case, please let us know :smiley:

mine turned out to be a faulty power supply.. so had use of it today, the about 6pm it shut itself down and corrupted itself. no usb working so cant click anything to fix it. another paperweight.. unfortunately I paid by visa :disappointed:

Paypal told me to return item and i will get full refund but for insure post, it cost £23! I dont know what to do. Any suggestions? Should i take the $30 partial refund and then fix the soldering myself?

I thought it would have been sent from their European warehouse? Ordered on the 2nd I think, I contacted them as the delivery status had been stuck at "item is ready for delivery" for the past two weeks, since their reply earlier the status has now changed to "item is at PostNL sorting center" so shouldn't be long now...

Gearbest must be banned. They sent me a power adapter instead of the box. Now shall I say truth to PayPal and sent the useless adapter back to China, wait until they "receive" it if ever or report PayPal never received it as it was not signed delivery. This is what I have been sold for £65.10 Power adapter

Update on my case, the battery problem still occurs by using the AC. However my current solution is using an uk 3pin wall charger adaptor with a micro usb cable feeding the internal battery of the machine will work. And about paypal, gearbest have agreed to refund $33usd. With the £22, you can buy a solder iron kit to solder the loose cable inside to fix the battery issue or try the way i am currently using.
