I love my 42 inch 3D Finlux TV that has given me a better than expected picture for the last 4 years or so "crypticx" and 3 of my friends bought a 48 inch 3D Finlux TV last Xmas, on my recommendation, after seeing how good the picture on mine was and they have been very pleased with theirs.
Have you owned one, or even seen one switched on, to dismiss them as being rubbish ?
I have been thinking of getting the 49 inch 4K one for a bit now and was hoping for them to drop the price a bit more on Black Friday and Cyber Monday but they seem to be stuck at the prices they dropped to a week or so before then.
Maybe they will drop a little more in the Boxing Day or January sales then I will get one

Most electronics stuff these days seem to fail in the first few months or last for quite a few years, they have a minimum 12 months guarantee and appear to have quite a good customer support from what I have seen as I have never had a problem with mine but one friend who got one of their 48 inch 3D TVs last Xmas did have a problem where the sound was on but no picture and when he contacted them they sent him a USB flash drive with updated firmware that fixed it, no doubt if he had set it to automatically update it would never have had a problem.
A second TV, same model, that another friend bought at the same time seemed to have an intermittent fault, due I think to him having it on a swivelling wall bracket that he pulls away from the wall when he watches it and pushes it back when it is not on, so I think it must have flexed the mainboard and cracked it or disturbed something was collected within two days of him contacting them but they could not find anything wrong and returned it. The same fault occurred again some weeks later so he called them out again.
They still could not replicate the fault or find anything wrong so they said that there were two boards inside that could be causing it but they looked OK but they changed them both anyway and so far it has been fine.
I have not heard of anyone else having any issues with them and of course we all know that people do not often bother telling people how good something is or how the service that they have received was, only how bad something is or how poor the service is.

seriously not happy with this lot. i ordered the 43" one last friday. was to be devoured on wednesday this week. no tv arrived. i checked on the delivery couriers site on thursday, the tv was still in their depot and had been since 8th. i couldn't get an answer on their phone so contacted finlux. they said it would be delivered on friday now. i waited all day again. got an email mid morning saying it would be delivered between 1-4pm. nothing came. i checked the couriers site again last night. no update. i checked again this morning, and they had put a note - CHECK ADDRESS - so i rang the courier, again no answer. i contacted finlux, told them i wasn't happy, and that my postcode brings you to directly outside my front door, and theres only 4 houses to choose from. she said i would need to wait til monday to find out when it would be delivered again, to which i replied i wasn't happy with this, as i had already taken 2 days off work to wait on this, and it had cost me money. i said i wanted my tv, and had no faith in their courrier, so asked for them to dispatch another tv on a 24 hour delivery with another courier, and they could recall the one that the courier has. they said they cant do this. so i told them if they couldn't guarantee me delivery on monday i want a refund now. she said she would recall the tv then give me a refund. i told her i was seriously disappointed in this, as they can recall the tv to give me a refund, but not recall it and send me another on 24 hour delivery. very poor customer service.

I cant see how the damage on my tv was caused other that in production!... the damage was not a simple cracked screen there was a section that was bubbled outwards??? if it had been delivery damage it would either be just cracked, or an IN dentation... this was like it had been kicked from inside the tv outwards!.
I`ll upload a pic as I`m probably not explaining myself very well!

It is not actually replacing a tv as we have never had one in the bedroom before. But I will be comparing it to my Sony kdl55w8 that I got from John Lewis earlier this year. It was double the price and in truth I would be happy if it was half as good.
Having said that, I got a txt from the delivery service I had not come across before who confirmed a delivery slot today for between 4-7pm, it didn't turn up and no communication so far, which is a little disappointing.
I have emailed the courier and Finlux directly to find out what has happened and when I can expect it.
I was really hopeful that this would be a positive experience staying away from major brands, judging by the specs and the professional website. I will stay open minded and post my thoughts.

from Finlux website for the 43" TV
You'll also be pleased to hear that this Ultra HD Smart TV has 4 HDMI 2.0 ports supporting HDCP 2.2 so you can connect all your devices that are able to produce UHD content.
I'm pretty sure the AO/com 'Techwood' branded TVs are just these Finlux ones with a different label. The Finlux mobile remote apps even work with it. It is £100 cheaper than Finlux, even after the Finlux sale.

The 43 inch model also comes with a free tablet.
I'm tempted by the 43. Free tablet is a little gimmick and I would prefer another 50 off rather than the tablet but for £399, it seems like a good option.
£400 was my limit for the bedroom tv, no larger than 43inches really. Anyone got any better options? I have the Sony 55' w8 downstairs which is great.

Looks like it plays all the usual format, many more than lots of more expensive TVs can do.
It also has 2 x USB 3 ports plus a USB 2 one but to be honest unless it is the extra current you need to run or charge something by USB I can not see why it really needs USB 3 but again most other TVs are still using USB 2.

Hmmm a Vestel OLED TV. Think I'll pass on that one unless it was dirt cheap but I doubt it will be. Most of the cost will be in the panel and bespoke electronics driving it so I would imagine there would be very little difference in the cost between a Vestel and an LG for example.

The main problem with Vestel's are their reliability and build quality, especially electronically. They aren't built very well and have a failure rate higher than say a Samsung or LG and this is something not usually mentioned in reviews. Not really an issue if you're not expecting much and are paying peanuts but I'd seriously avoid paying over the odds for one of their higher end pricier offerings. They're just not worth it in my opinion.

Vestel Vestel Vestel, that's all we hear - is that such a bad thing?
I remember my dad buying a finlux tv about 30 years ago from the Swedish company that took over rumbalows, can't remember the name of it but can remember Bridget neilson being in the telly adverts! Spec wise it was fantastic! Built in satellite tuner where the sky viewing card went into the slot at the front!
Seems now they are scrimping somewhat, 2 hdmi sockets on a 50" tv?
Not voting either way, as yes they are great value but can't help thinking anyone who buys will be disappointed by the lack of inputs.
