Picked one up this evening from the Leamington spa store. They had around 10 in stock but none on show, we had to ask for one.

Does this include the wall charging mount too?

I had both so the V6 has also some drawbacks compared to the DC44, and for many people, the DC44 would still be a very good choice (even if the V6 was at the same price).

Drawbacks of the V6:
* Much noisier, even in normal mode
* Same suction in normal mode
* In max mode, better suction but much shorter time than max mode on DC44
* in max mode, does the same noise as a full size vacuum cleaner
* harder to empty and clean, the entire clear bin has to be removed often due to where the dirt goes
* harder to clean the cyclone plastic part as does not disconnect easily from motor
* Motorised floor head does not seem massively different
* Runs much hotter

I don't believe the weight is massively different, and I am not sure the V6 has a better run time. It may be actually shorter depending on mode and attachments used.

Therefore, unless people need a more powerful max mode, the DC44 remains an excellent choice for many.

Excellent price, as the DC44 has several advantages compared to the latest V6 models, in term of ease to keep clean, noise etc.

Bought the last one in pontypridd last night. can confirm it does have a motorised head. It is not the animal version though.

OTHER FACT: Hardly anyone actually says "vacuum cleaner" - so ingrained is the brand name into the national psyche.

Yes it is the standard digital slim edition not the animal. Got one, but not sure if I'm going to keep it as I really wanted the mini motorised tool.

By the looks of a quick 'Google' search it seems like this is an earlier revision of the current V6 animal which came out sometime in 2012 (I think). Dyson obviously have simplified things a little with the current range of cordless vacuums which mainly consist of the standard V6, Animal, Total Clean, Absolute and Fluffy. The origin is slightly older I believe.

I'm guessing between revisions they have just slightly tweaked things to do with the charging bay, power output and the design (albeit very minor). Key thing as others have mentioned is obviously the separate mini motorised head that comes with it. Works really well for the ingrained pet/animal hairs that can potentially get caught deep in carpets.

Good deal if you can find it, might have a look myself in the Wandsworth and Wandsworth Bridge branches.

In my opinion you get what you pay for. I wouldn't buy a Dyson unless it's an Animal of a Fluffy. They are a lot more expensive but because they are a lot better.

Lol. I took mine back to the Hudds store at aspley about a week ago coz the Mrs paid £190 for it and I found it cheaper online. There weren't any left on the shelves so u dare say u got my returned one. Enjoy

Price tag showed reduced to £190 but scanned at £150.

Great deal. It's ideal for daily use, but doesn't pick up bigger pieces easily like cat biscuits - so I use the smaller handheld for these. But the big plus for me, as also stated by a previous poster, is that the kids happily use this. Don't think mine has ever taken 5 hours to charge - presume that's first charge. After I have done the whole house I plug it in for about an hour and that's it.

Just read up and seems like animal version includes a mini motorised tool. Great if someone can confirm as Dyson's own site is not clear on this.

Convertee, seriously!... We replaced our upright hoover with on of these(dc44) and I was a doubter. Never looked backed. Brilliant piece of kit. Even the kids like using it.

Will be surprised if this is national. Kenwood Kmix mixers were reduced to clear yesterday but store specific unfortunately. Fingers crossed I'm wrong :smiley:
