We went for the V6 Absolute from Amazon.de for £275 at the time. Awesome.

do Dyson make a corded version of these slim lightweight models? I really like the idea of them but I'm not into cordless and all the hassle of recharging and eventually replacing worn out batteries etc.

We have this model and it's great for picking up animal hair mid-week. Does as good a job on hard floors as our main corded Dyson, but admittedly it's not as good on carpeted floors. It still does a good enough job on carpets to see us through until the weekend.

My DC59 didn't come with motorised head tool,I think American/Japanese models have that, not UK/European models..I've never used motorised head so can't comment on it but I didn't notice any issues cleaning rugs and carpets without it.
Also Dyson have re-named DC59 Animal to V6 Animal..so if you buy a V6 Animal it's the same as DC59 Animal.they are currently on sale for £230 brand new in Currys and John Lewis and on Dyson website..

Thanks. Does the dc59 have the motorised head tool. Do u think that is needed for rugs and stairs?

How does this compare to the dc59 animal?

DC59 Animal is way better.
Has more powerful motor and suction almost as good as standard corded vacuum cleaners and longer battery life.
this model is the basic entry model,I'd definitely pay more and buy DC59 or V6 series.
