I am peruvian, here are some facts:
- Around 56,000 British nationals visit Peru every year. Most visits are trouble free.
- There is NO Terrorism threat
So the only things u should worry about:
- There’s risk of robbery by bogus taxi drivers, especially to and from the airports and at bus terminals. So better arrange transport in advance from your hotel.
- Driving standards are poor. Crashes resulting in death and injury occur frequently. So better watch right and left 10 times before u cross a street.
And you better:
Keep an eye at your personal belongings at all times.
Anyway, there are risks anywhere in this crazy world, aren't them?
Enjoy the adventure!

Love Lapa! Spent my birthday there this year, happy memories. I have friends in Brazil though which I guess helped. I didn't feel unsafe in Argentina, I just found the people not as friendly as in Brazil. Your trip sounds amazing, I'm hoping to have to head off somewhere with work exciting next year. For now Vegas, Peru and Columbia is all.

I can imagine Antarctica being pretty safe...
Main thing with South America is to not keep phones/cameras out in public areas/transport like you would be comfortable doing in Europe/USA. Then the usual don't walk alone at night/don't get into unknown taxis etc. I've heard bad things about using overnight buses too but it seems pretty rare.
Peru does seem to be one of the safer South American countries though. I'm going to spend two weeks there next year then head to Bolivia and Chile. Unfortunately that means flying back from Santiago so got to pay more for flights.

Wow Rachel I felt totally safe in Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. Maybe I was lucky?
Thanks for your help by the way on that flight from lax, managed to get Virgin upper both ways to Vegas for £700 and points! Good thing is I fly into Vegas and out of lax, which cuts out getting back to Vegas

We felt unsafe in certain parts of Montevideo and Buenos Aires, also Rio (Santa Teresa/LAPA). In comparison in Peru we wandered streets in the early hours of the morning in Cuzco and felt completely safe (although less safe in Lima). That said were are back in Argentina shortly and will be doing Antarctica, Chile amd Patagonia so it will be good to see how it compares.

Great price, direct flights too. I paid a lot more than this for flights to Lima via Amsterdam last year.

I am happy to alleviate anyone's concerns about Peru. We're going for 2 1/2 weeks doing our own hike through a canyon twice size of Grand Canyon (was going to do your but after 3 hours of research very easy to do yourself with accommodation every three hours). Then doing inca trail organised tour. Added to this is a few day trips to sacred valley and some cool local /tourist shows.

Compare with Rio, Uruguay, Paraguay and Buenos Aires I felt far safer in Peru.

Be glad not everyone shares your opinion otherwise you'd be paying thousands for those seats and flying on planes that are 90% empty.
Also someone saying Peru is safer than Europe? If you go to Peru that naive then you're in for a major shock. South America is one of the most dangerous places on the planet. But don't let that put anyone off going, if you're smart about how you travel there then you should be fine. I'm planning a trip to the continent myself in October or November next year.
From what I can see these flights are a good deal however you need a very specific itinerary to make use of them. Unless you're going for a week then flying out of the same airport you came in is generally not the best way to do it, because chances are you'll need an extra flight to get back there at the end of your trip.

Joke? There was a police message that during Christmas holidays they expect high volume of robberies, if this happens they advise you not to argue or resist for your own safety!!!!!

These are possible even cheaper with the code WORLD15 at Budgetair. Here is the screen shot, ignore the scribble on it, I was emailing this to my chiropractor last night.
Code is only valid until 23:59 this evening.

Great to see some direct flights with a decent airline for a change. Much better than those crap deals for flights where you have to change three times.
