I think you're more likely to see a massive expansion pack than a whole new boxed sequel tbh. I could be wrong obviously but we're not dealing with CoD or FIFA here and releasing a full blown sequel next year would probably put a lot of people off.

21 Dec 15#53
Why not?
This was leaked and is pretty much spot on. The 2 DLCs this year were not completed as they do not have enough time to work on them so they are trying the event based model which they told Kokatu. If not destiny 2 it will be a big DLC in 2016 like TTK but is most likely Destiny 2 as most of the games insiders are reporting.

I agree it's ridiculous, the only part which was good value was the taken king expansion for new players as it included all previous DLCs. But the current players still got shafted £40 just for the taken king as most current players would have had previous DLCs. I don't know how anyone can defend their structure and pricing.
I have been a player since beta but I am so bored of it now, level means nothing and there's no point of even getting higher light anymore - nightfall/weeklies you can do with vendor gear and the raid doesn't interest me anymore there's not even any good weapons from it.

I got my PS4 with this game close to release day and I can confirm this quote sums the game up very well. Constant repetition for very little outcome. The ranking and weaponary / armour upgrading is also overly complex. All in all quite a boring game.

Just to clarify - there won't be any more DLC this year, there will be free events that everyone with the taken king expansion can play such as the sparrow racing league (YouTube it). The next Destiny content you will have to buy will be Destiny 2 which is most likely coming out in Sep 2016.
If you don't like grinding for loot or repetitive gameplay I wouldn't recommend it.

They have made it a lot harder to level up so you have to grind even longer or buy the new micro transaction leveller they have added for 20 - 30 pound the company which at one point was great has become a complete joke

This is so untrue it's hilarious.
It's actually a lot easier to level up now, with various ways to get full level gear.
The £25 level up only puts you to level 25 out of 40, and LITERALLY everyone is level 40, as that becomes insignificant as you then try to get to light 320, which is the current max.
That £25 booster also gives you absolutely no gear or weapons, and you still have to play the game to unlock it all. It's hilariously bad value, which is good, as it doesn't effect the game in any way at all.

Well, just to put it in perspective, the max that i would have spent on any game in the past would have been around 50 hrs.
On destiny taken king i have spent more than 700hrs and still playing.
You can say its a boring game as you need to grind but that is the fun of it. That msiing puece of exotic weapon or armor or that artifact or the hidden ghost or the lurking calcified fragment :-) End game content is very difficult and impossible to do unless u got friends and to be honest getting friends online is hardly a problem. Just do some strikes with matchmaking and you have got a few new friends to help :-)
So Awesome Game and every bit worth it at this price. I paid £42 for this and this was a steal even then :-)

The in game micro transactions are going to pay for the next expansion, so I wouldn't worry about that, and a lot of emotes and dances have been purchased by a lot of players, as well as sparrows and record books for the SRL racing, and at Halloween a lot of "silver" was spent. The in-game micro-transactions are not essential/compulsory, and do not affect your light standing or anything like that.

it's a good deal, which is what this site is for.
Suckers like me paid £20 just for the Dark Below expansion ... which was a complete rip off and everything that's wrong with the games industry.

They're fine. I've been doing daily/weekly heroic quests on my own and it isn't too difficult at all these days. I've been mostly playing it alone because my XB1 friends have all since moved on to other games and I don't like playing with strangers.
I do often get random invites from people over Live to join raids with them because my character is quite geared up at this point but I usually just ignore them.

If you like a game where you can get together with some friends, take on content of varying difficulties that requires specific tactics and approaches, and are interested in a differing co-op experience, then this game is for you!
This is the only game I play, really, and that's been the case for a good while now. I understand why people complain about the game, but at the end of the day this is a well balanced, tight competitive shooter in the multilayer aspect, and has the player versus environment content that some people crave.
My advice would be grab a fire team and give it a go. I've certainly got my money's worth out of this!
Great price. I was thinking of picking up the ps3 version for me nephews. Does this code work on that version, too?

At the end of the day, this is the closest thing to a console exclusive MMO on this side of the planet right now. There have been console ports of Dragon Quest, FF Online, TESO etc but this is a slightly different case that still follows the Activision/Blizzard model to some degree.
With the likes of WoW you have to pay a monthly subscription fee and pay for any additional addon packs. Destiny doesn't force you to do that but Activision clearly have a long term plan for this game and anybody who thought that they would be able to pay £30 last year and then get free updates that will allow them to fully participate on it for the next five years was simply deluding themselves.
If you just fancy something to play over the Christmas break then this is a lot of game for £20 but if your plan is to be involved for the long haul then expect to have to fork out for some extra content in the future.

What are the expansions like as a Solo experience? I know it's made to be a coop one, but the way my schedules are at the moment I feel getting a group together, letting alone playing consistently isn't happening. I remember I stopped playing the game originally because all my friends dropped out of play, and it was just impossible to any of the end game stuff (at the time) alone.

+1 to this.
I've been a day one player and put nearly 2000 hours in. Best game I've played. It does have it's faults such as the year 1 weapons being useless now due to damage level, but I have never added so many people to my friends list as I have on this game.
There's the story, Raids x3, Daily challenges, Weekly's, Nightfalls, Trials of Osiris, Sparrow Racing and a whole host more.
If you like grinding then this is perfect........
WARNING: Can get VERY addictive and you will only get the most out of this game if you get a fireteam of 6x regular players for raids etc.....Adds on a whole new aspect to any console game.

I think I did almost the whole of the original game's story as a solo. There were some tough moments but always pulled it off on my second or third go. Think I only halted my solo experience during House of Wolves. But that was more because I was lost and couldn't work out what I was doing (I don't think I really grasped the 'story' well enough!). This was on Xbox one though so if anyone wants to add me to start Destiny on PS4 then drop me a PM.

The story aspect of the game has much improved on the previous version. You can do a good bit of the content on your own, and be matchmade when taking on group content.
That being said, there are some fantastic tools to help you put a group together.
Destinglfg.net allows you to search for players looking for the same activity as you.
I also use the reddit.com/r/fireteams subreddit to get groups when my friends are not around.
The community, especially on reddit, is fantastic for this game. I've had some genuine fun times laughing with people all around the world as we shoot something in the face.

The fact that day one owners, such as myself, were literally conned into basically beta testing this game is what **** me off. Yes the Taken King is a vast improvement, but what incentive do day one owners have to buy the same base game again? A discount or some free content to show appreciation that we supported the game since day one would've went a long way. Especially considering it's a game with barely any players now and so much locked content you'd think it's a F2P game.
If you've yet to play destiny then go for it, it's a brilliant deal. I however will never buy any destiny game ever again.

It’s not the extra DLC that annoys me. I’m more than happy to pay for DLC that adds to the game. What put me off is that a lot of the paid DLC is actually stuff that was supposed to be in the original game, but was trimmed out to make more money.
The original game (which I bought on day one) feels more like a freemium game than full price retail release.

End game stuff still requires a team, and no matchmaking.
For all the people judging this offer based on Year 1 Destiny, please don't. It's a vastly improved and much bigger game, many elements not even resembling how it used to be.
For example, the story has been completely reworked as quests, with more info and dialogue, economies and progress have been reworked removing a lot of the grind element (although there is still a lot) and going forwards it seems like we are going to get fun events and additions for little/no money which are supported by the optional cosmetic micro transactions.
As good as Fallout 4 is, unless no one else is online, I just can't resist playing this.
