Definitely not the LG...Think about driver updates in the future etc...
If you want Windows it's a choice between the XPS13, Lenovo Carbon X1, HP Spectre x360
Or there is the Macbook pro retina if you don't mind OSX (can always install Wndows as well using bootcamp, VMWare fusion or Parallels)
Ultrabooks of this quality are all very similar specs and price to a Macbook Pro which is in essence the market thet are looking to emulate so don't knock the MBPr without trying one...
I tried all of the above laptops before buying a MBPr, second choice would be the HP Spectre x360 but i found the touchpad a little disappointing after the one on the MBPr

The infamous XPS 13 that everyone touts as a great alternative to the "Overpriced" macbook pro....If you prefer Windows to OSX this is as close an alternative to a Macbook Pro as you will find.
Not cheap but a great laptop.

Great laptop, touchpad is a little clunky. This deal comes with Windows 10, but if you're upgrading from Windows 7 to 10, watch out for the glitchy login screen. Display driver update should fix it.

I'd hoped they'd release a touch enabled model in the lower res by now... As nice as it is, I worry about being able to read anything on a QHD screen. From what I've read scaling has improved, but some older applications still have some woes and the fact I'm still using Office 2007 is only the tip of the proverbial iceberg!

Dell is very poor for warranty issues, had dells for past 10 years, when it came to a faulty xps laptop, they were next to useless. Had to get a credit card company to issue a refund.

I've had exactly the opposite experience - Dell have always been great with warranty issues, from both a personal perspective (had a Dell laptop, including various XPS, for the last 10+ years) and business perspective (used to manage IT for a business with 60+ Dell desktops).

The footprint on this computer is just crazy, we had it next to an 11" MacBook Air and it's barely bigger. Photos just don't do that InfinityEdge display justice. It will be interesting to see what Apple do next, but they haven't been that innovative recently and you can bet other than slimming it down, you're unlikely to see touch capability if that's important to you.
The XPS 15 9550 I've just had delivered is something else, how they crammed in a GTX 960M I'll never know but it's essentially a 15" gaming ultrabook, the size of a 14" computer!

When I was looking at the XPS15 (which I now have) it was a fair bit high spec than a more expensive MBP.
I got it through the dell outlet which knocked a considerable bit off that too.
Only good think about the MBPs is the power connector (and the dell one that slows it down if there's a problem is particularly irksome) - otherwise overpriced with irksome OS - I had one for a year and a half from work in the past.

22 Dec 15#27
Apple won't do touch screen though I would love to see one - I still haven't ruled out the Surface Pro 4 but having to pay extra for a keyboard is just not cricket...

22 Dec 15#28
What makes this a signature edition?
I am looking at the XPS and this gen processor. Seriously considering john lewis that have this same model for £50 more with 3 years warranty.
Dell outlet only have the old gen processors by the looks of things. 10% off if you are a student though!
Then that one doesn't have a 4k or touchscreen display just a non touch fhd one so its more expensive and lower spec. Signature edition means it comes clean of manufacturer crap so no dell or partner apps, just vanilla windows and drivers.

Do you have the XPS 15 9550 or the slightly older 9530 - the 9550 launched about 2 months ago and looks like a bigger XPS 13?
The Dell power supply slow down is a very old problem but doesn't really exist now - it was when the central pin got damaged so it couldn't determine what was plugged into it (or the power rating), I haven't seen it since way back in 2006. You have to be pretty rough to rip the pin out really. And the latest MacBook doesn't use Magsafe which may be a sign of things to come.

9530 - got it earlier in the year.
I can confirm the same power issues applies for the 9530 and the L702x (last XPS17).
Also applies if you get an adaptor to use an older adaptor on the newer laptop - laptop runs dog-slow, despite being an i7 with 16gb ram and a decent SSD.
Also of course caused if the power socket is damaged, such as you do tend to get with extended use - with l702x when I had another warranty replacement, they even asked if the power socket was ok. Should have got it replaced just before warranty ended as it did go a while later - however they're not too expensive to replace at least.
No MagSafe - wonder if there's issues with the sort of power modern systems tend to use (150w power supply on my l702x, while the T20 server I recently got apparantly idles at around 30w!)
Oh well, MBP now holds no appeal at all to me!

Guys and girls, if you bought a Dell laptop with a 1-year warranty, you can extend it any time. I have a few Dell computers and extend the warranty when it's needed. I have an XPS 15 9530, the warranty ran out and I asked about renewing it. I declined the first quote and was then offered 30% discount so got a new 2-year next business day onsite warranty for just under £200. Hope it helps.

I dont know why Microsoft dont offer a 15" XPS, Dell do though on the dell site, try checking some reviews or comparisons but basically the Inspiron is a desktop replacement and the XPS is an ultrabook, two totally different market sectors and which one you choose depends what your needs are!
I almost pulled the trigger on an XPS 15, then they went and upped the **** prices.
I want: 16gb, FHD screen, 84whr battery. But this combo doesnt exist in the UK. **** dell

I got the previous model about 1 year ago and returned it immediately because of hardware issues that were very common. I'm not sure if Dell has put their act together, but I would check some reviews before giving them my money.
And to add insult to injury, they "misplaced" my information and I started to get calls from fake dell representatives to inform me I had a virus installed and they wanted me to install some dodgy software on a laptop I didn't have...
Personally, avoid and get a mac... I think they are even cheaper than this.

Ordered this very laptop over the weekend (before it was posted on HUKD) and received it today. Sadly, I have been sent the non-touchscreen/FHD version and not the touchscreen QHD+ version.
By the fact that the price corresponds with the FHD version on Dell's website, my guess is that the Microsoft Store website is completely wrong and they are shipping the FHD version to all.
I've phone the Microsoft Store to let them know and will be returning my order tomorrow.
