Anyone know how this compares to the EcoAir DC12? This has pushed it a little cheaper, but EcoAir has better reviews on Amazon. Hard to compare the two as reviews of this will be based on its old price!

I have the DC12 and purchased it back when it was £99, such a great item and deserves the reviews my boss has the DES12 model which has a smaller tank than this DES14.
Both do the exact same thing, both are small, both are relatively quiet (DC12 is marginally quieter), front tank on the DC12 vs side tank on the DES12/14. Digital controls/humidity sensory and filter on the DC12 and analogue dial with filter on the DES12/14.

I am still awaiting delivery of the DES12 model which I managed to get for £79.99. It keeps saying preparing for dispatch, of which should of been here between 14-16th Dec. Not sure if I should hold my breath til it comes!! Good deal if you can get them delivered in the winter season.

Needs cleaning i.e dusting off and running under a cold tap.
According to the manual it should be replaced every 2 years (£5 part IIRC). It's a little fabric mesh draped over a plastic grid.

Is this any good for clothes drying? and roughly how many hours before it can fully dry clothes straight out of the washing machine? Need one just fro laundry drying. Thanks

I have an Eco Air Dehumidifier that has a great function for drying clothes. It warms the room nicely too with a gentle heat. Takes between 2-3 hours to get clothes fully dry.

How longs a piece of string. How much washing? how big the room? what temperature the room? does your house have high or low moisture levels in air?

Thank you. Just moved to a house with a utility room and shower room behind the garage, no heating, so gets quite cold and damp.
Ive borrowed the eco air dc12 from work for couple of days to see if it can dry the laundry, but after running it for 6hrs it was still long way from dry. Not sure what im doing wrong ?! :disappointed:

Depends on a lot of conditions (humidity - room temperature - ventilation - type of clothing), personal experience running at about 15-17c ambient temperature in a smallish room full of washing with window and door closed it takes 6-8hours to dry the lot - I have a DC12 also.

I've been pondering about one for those hot summer days when the air is muggy and really uncomfortable to breathe, wonder how good a dehumidifier is at sorting that out for you!
ON the washing machine comment, you might have different levels of wetness from clothes out of your washing machines due to having different spin speeds?

For cold, damp areas a dissicant unit like this is perfect. Quiet and warms the air. For a hot, sweaty environment, an old skool refrigerant type would be more effective. It won't heat the room as much, and will work faster. Would be noisier though. Stay clear of peltier powered units.

I have been drying my clothes in the set room but it takes forever. Been thinking about getting a tumble dryer. Haven't thought about a dehumidifier, would this be more cost effective to run?
