If you actually tried buying it from John Lewis, during checkout it says delivery is 4 weeks away and the cost is £3.50 direct from supplier.

I own a Flip2 which I got reduced and for the price, the sound is great. The battery is poor though, so I hope this is better.

The flip 2 is sh1t so it wouldn't be harder for this to be better.
Bluebella beneath this post pointed me in the direction of an interesting resource and this was a more considered view of the flip and the flip 2 than I could be bothered to type earlier.
John Lewis does not have them in stock. Delivery will be after Xmas.
According to their website Currys have them in stock for delivery and at most branches in-store as well.

Straight forward question.
How does this compare to the Bose sounding mini 2?
(As it seems to be used as the benchmark for all bluetooth speakers, like it or not - despite the cost differential).

If you google "oluvs gadgets" you will find on his website (to the right of the page labeled "interactive speaker audio database") that he has useful a tool where you can listen to and compare different speakers he's tested - I think he has the Flip 3 listed and the Bose so you can compare them for yourself. I've used it with a speaker I own (sony x3) and he's done a pretty good job of capturing the sound accurately (use good headphones for best results). He also has multiple Flip 3 comparison videos on Youtube under the name clavinetjunkie.
Be warned though that this may cost you money as you may decide you like one of the pricier speakers even more (like I did with the Audio Addon T3 )
