Cubot, Doogee and other Chinese phones are very good and serious rivals to some mainstream phones selling for three or four times the price.

I just got my Cubot H1 delivered from BangGood. Really nice phone and for £95 is a bargain as it has exceeded my expectations. I also brought this X12 for a family member for xmas. Good spec phones for a cheap price :sunglasses:

My first Chinese phone was a Cubot X6 and once rooted it ran like a greyhound even with only 1gb of RAM. Cost me over £100 on Amazon so I think it's still a good deal even with the price back to normal. I have far too many phones as it is tho but +1 for the find.

Did you have to pay any customs charges on this or was it sent as a gift lol

I've never had to pay customs charges/
My Cubot GT99 is running smooth from a year ago.
My THL W11 had problems after a few months with the Playstore so I bought a replacement.
I'm now using Zopo Speed 7.
All phones cost me £100-110 each.
Best buys ever. I'm never buying a mainstream phone again. These are just as fast and much more durable.
I must have dropped my Zopo like 10 times expecting a huge crack when I pick it up but nope.

Can anyone comment on the GPS on these more recent Mediatek chipsets? Used both a Cubot P9 and Bobby and both were very good phones but now have a 2nd hand S4 mainly for its excellent GPS.

First one i brought about 2 months ago was a Doogee X5 Pro direct from china which arrived in 5 days and was delivered by yodel, no custom charges. Im not sure if it had been marked as a gift. The 2 Cubots H1 and X12 were brought through the EU warehouse with it being so close to christmas. I did buy a quadcopter and extra batteries for around £50 just after the Doogee direct from china too and i remember that being marked as $16 on the packet. I dont think they use the Gift option anymore they just lie about the value, lol

I bought a chinese phone from China a few months ago, and yes the lied about the value, so no customs charges.

I bought this a month ago for £32. Really good phone, but after about 10 charges the battery now drains incredibly quickly - just left on standby. It has practically become unusable.

I got a Doogee phone from an Ebay UK seller to avoid problems with customs charges. It has the same Sony 13mp camera as my wife's phone, 8GB of RAM and lots of extras. I am very pleased with it. Plus it has 2 sim cards, so I can phone the mistress on my secret number without having to hide another phone in the car (only joking of course). The 2 sim thing means I can have my work sim in the phone and turn that sim off at weekends, keeping the PAYG sim in for calls from family and mates.
