Had to buy this today. These were £90 then £70 now £35. 3 yr warranty. Happy days. Not sure if this was national but there was about 5 left in the barrow store.

You can't get one cheaper than this but its a wild goose chase to find one, unless like you you're close to Barrow Aldi as you have established they had stock when you visited.

I got one for £34.99. The price said £69.99 but scanned at £34.99. I also got one of their impact wrenches and it wouldn't take off wheel nuts torqued upto 110 nm.

Even more expensive electric impact wrenches are rubbish at doing over-torqued wheel nuts. I got a Clarke one that is rated for 450Nm and that wouldn't shift my wheel nuts. Had to use a breaker bar and my entire body weight bouncing up and down to remove it.

Any decent 1/2" air impact gun is going to use at least 15cfm of air at 8bar pressure (ignore the 7ish bar air consumption figure at 50% duty cycle; this just means you need a compressor that gives you at least 14cfm free air delivery). The compressors generally delivery about 3cfm free air per 1hp. Often the compressors are specified as either piston displacement or intake air figures (complete bollucks). Even when a free air figure is given it is usually at atmospheric pressure (as the pressure builds in the tank the air flow delivered drops).
If you want to know what the air flow for your compressor then first check that there are no air leaks (a little soapy wateraround the cylinder head and delivery pipe unions whilst running and around any other unions when full. Then using a stop watch from empty time how long it takes to fill the tank until cut off (now convert the time into a decimal of the minutes eg. 3 mins and 30 secs = 3.5).
Now take the tank size in litres and times that by the cut off pressure in bar.
Now divide that figure by the first figure (3.5) and then again by 28.3....there's your free air delivery over a tank fill!
So this compressor may be.....
50×8=400
400÷3.5=114.3
114.3÷28.3= 4cfm free air delivery.

compressor would not even need to be running to shift a wheel nut
If up to pressure, it should shift a wheel nut in about 1/4 of a second. Free air delivery of the pump does not make any difference. You should be able to get all the wheel nuts off before the compressor even cut in again.
Any flow limitations such as small bore pipes will limit the amount of torque from an impact wrench.
For running a spray gun continuously then that is a different thing altogether. Your arguments are correct in that case.

You would need to know the free air delivery of the compressor and the free air requirements of the spray gun at 100% duty cyle to be sure. Plus you would need a water/oil seperator in line to stop any contamination and get a good finish.

Just went into my local Aldi (Rugby) and they have some in stock for £45, now I showed this post to see if they would do it for that price!! The manager of the store was very helpful (said No) but explained that all stores are given a budget to reduce items to clear.. Each store will then reduce items to what they want until the budget is used up... This is why one store has things reduced to a different price than another...

Well worth £89.99 let alone all these reduced prices. Had one for years and loads of tools to go with it too.
Once you have used an air chisel, theres no going back.
If it cant deliver enough air... get two and pipe them together.

I some cases that is true but many folk will be trying to shift a stubborn nut and impacting for just 3 seconds would drop the air pressure below 6bar and the motor will cut back in again in a vain attempt to keep up. So to do set of wheel nuts would mean wait for the compressor to refill befor attempting another nut. You are correct regarding airline bore size and union diameter....they do restrict air flow; as do cheap regulators and naff quick release couplers.

That's what I found. We bought one at full price. £89 iirc. Hoping it would crack off a hub nut for a CV boot replacement. The nut was torqued to 200 ftlb (270 Nm). Within spec of the compressor and impact wrench. But no chance!
It's okay for blowing up tyres, and that's about it. Isn't even much use with the other air tools sold separately by ALDI. I think we bought the whole lot! The tank capacity is just too low even for paint spraying; you must constantly pause to let it recompress.

I don't know if I just miss all these wonderful reductions but I doubt it. The Aldi in Norris Green Liverpool never seems to be a part of it. Compressors there are still £69 and previous bargains seem to have slipped past as well. Then again I have noticed a general reluctance to reduce the price of anything in this city this weird anomaly even seems to extend to eBay where things always seem to be more highly priced here.
