Comes with Windows 8.1 which is upgradable to Windows 10.

Downside is that the screen is 1366x768 but spec wise, it seems to be better than the Linx 1010B. It's cheaper than the 32GB version and also cheaper than importing this model from China.

2 full sized usb ports at the side which is a plus.

Note that this is the outdated model with the older 22nm bay trail atom.

The current V10 (pro?) has the cherry trail atom inside, as well as a display resolution from within this decade.

No, but a guy on tech tablets wrote on a thread I was following and wrote:

I finally gave up with trying to have both partitions of the SD show under Android. My current config is 16Gb SD partitioned as 5Gb Fat 32 mounted under Win 10 and 11Gb ext3 partition mounted invisibly in Android for the Link2SD App from the marketplace. I use this to move/install apps to the external SD Works great

Yup, sure have, someone else has the same issue on techtablets forum. In settings/storage it simply says mount usb, and doesn't do anything. However like I said a file manager can access the EXT2 partition, but not the first FAT32 partition. It's weird.

Big Issue***********

Cant even use Link2SD on Android grrrr, it wont accept 2 partitions on the SD card, it wont read the first FAT32 drive at all. However a file browser can fiew the EXT2 second partition, therefore i'm stuck.
Need to make it write all new apps to the SD card, as it's ran out almost. :*(

Just confirming what weegieq and dreadzone101 posted with regards to updating this tablet to windows 10. The update here went pretty smoothly. I started at 2:20pm and it was finished by 3:35pm. There were one or two "black screen" moments where it seemed like nothing was happening but I just let it get on with it.

As people have already said everything is working as normal in windows 10. About the only hiccup was down to me fudging the system so I can run dropbox off a Micro SD card but it was easily fixed. Really love the fact this tablet has 2 full USB ports. It means I can use my two short height flash sticks.. Last year when I bought the Linx 10 I thought that was fantastic, this year the Chuwi has put it the Linx to shame. Really happy with this tablet.

Well finally just updated to windows 10, couldn't be bothered faffing about worrying about it and thought there'll be a way to fix any issues...no issues to report, updated just as normal, clicking on the task bar...everythings came up great, no problems with touch screen/mouse/bluetooth keyboard or the keyboard case. Now to try streaming Xbox One

Got mine in Ireland on Christmas eve and touchscreen was broken. LCD was fine so I could start it up with keyboard and mouse attached though was a but awkward as it would keep detecting random touch input. I seem to have had the same lack of packaging as most others here.
Gearbest say on their website that I will have to pay return shipping costs for warranty repair. Is that correct if shipped from within the EU? Otherwise, would PayPal side with me if they insist on me sending it to China.

29 Dec 15 #155
Sorry to hear. Another person who ordered this tablet said theirs wouldn't charge. Wouldn't be surprised if that was due to transit damage as well. Might be a long shot, but you should reinstall touch screen drivers, just in case it's a software issue although if it's detecting random touch input, it does sound like a hardware related issue.

Someone posted a similar situation on ask section last week. Seems that it's normal that they ask to return to China despite being bought from European warehouse. As to whether PayPal will take your side, it apparently depends on what location GearBest is registered as on PayPal. I've heard GearBest can be a nightmare to deal with when it comes to any problems. Good luck sorting it out.

Have been following this thread after coming really close to ordering this tablet when it was posted here, but I finally let the mixed reviews of GearBest put me off. Given the mostly positive experiences people have shared here I'm still slightly tempted at around £100, which is the cheapest I can see for the 64GB version shipped from the EU warehouse. This would come with the EU plug, so I was going to ask how you charge the tablet? Is it via USB, or via a dedicated power plug? Also how does the SD card storage work with the 2 OSes? Do they both see the same files on a single card? Thanks.
djdynamite123 to BTW
26 Dec 15 #145
Charges via mini USB like most things, you need a decent charger 2amps or higher. Even my quality amp charger wont charge the tablet whilst it's playing a demanding game, it will simply leave it stuck on the percentage it was at before plugging in the charger until I quit the program.
Also android cant see windows file system and vice versa, so their is no risk of deleting out unless you use a partition manager. £100 is still pretty orite for this tablet. I'm abit p*ssed the keyboard case didn't come before xmas though!
dreadzone101 to BTW
26 Dec 15 #146
Micro* USB charging.(not mini). The plug they supply is in a separate box. A micro USB cable is inside the tablet box. Since USB plugs are readily available getting an EU plug wouldn't matter much. As previous person mentions, the rating of the plug matters. The one they supply is 5V/2A. When using an old 5V/1.2A phone charger, my tablet would either remain the same charge or still be draining whilst it was in use and plugged in.

If you mean the SD card storage as in the micro SD slot, both OS will read it as external storage so you can transfer files from one OS onto the card, then switch OS and see those files. In terms of internal storage, each OS has their own separate partition (about 40GB Windows 10GB Android) so no shared storage besides external memory.

As for reviews of Gearbest. Their packaging is awful. If you read some of the previous comments, you'll see that they shipped the tablet inside a thin plastic bag without any other wrapping/packaging. One person didn't get their power plug since it most likely fell out during transit due to how easily the corners of the tablet box could rip open the plastic bag. I've heard that Gearbest customer support is bad. One person said they'd received a faulty device which had a charging problem. Not sure how they're doing in terms of getting it returned for replacement/refund. Fortunately everyone else seems to have got theirs intact despite the lack of packaging.

Yeah I thought that was odd at the time when I was buying it, but like you said even at £80 this is a steal. It is kinda funny I loved my Linx 10 and swore I would not buy another tablet till Cherry trail, 4gbs of RAM and 64bit were standard on these cheap tablets. However when I saw this with Android I convinced myself I needed it :-p

Durability wise like you my USB ports are a wee bit snug. I noticed it today when I was shoving a flash stick in there, that aside so far I have been running this tablet for nearly 13 hours a day (connected to the power and screen always on) and not had a problem yet. Besides if it conks out after a year I am sure there will be an even better windows tablet this time next year at 80 quid.
dreadzone101
21 Dec 15 #135
Ah I see. It looks to be the same connection although the Linx is not as wide so I guess the keyboard wouldn't match in that aspect even if the connection did work.

The tablet was actually £70.31 when I first posted it. I think a few others besides myself managed to get it for that price. In page 2, you can see some comments about the price so I think it must have increased a few hours after posting. £80 is still great value though. Price might have been due to there being a newer Cherry Trail model (Vi10 Ultimate) and also an updated Cherry Trail with Full HD screen (Hi10) but then again, it was still a fair bit cheaper than it would have cost importing it and also cheaper than the 32gb original version :smirk:. A bit worried about it's durability though but I guess time will tell. My USB ports are a rather tight and takes a bit of push to connect things. Hopefully the ports don't end up being pushed in away from the outer shell.

21 Dec 15 #134
Sorry can't help with that because I just use a bog standard bluetooth keyboard and mouse with the Linx. I almost got one of those keyboards for it but at the time they were like 40 quid and I thought "sod off".

Really loving this new tablet, it is leagues ahead of the Linx 10 and it is great being able to switch to Android, fire up the Fallout 4 pipboy app and have it running whilst I play Fallout 4 on my main PC. It still staggers me what you can get these days for 80 quid. This is a pretty decent Windows and Android tablet for half the price of a decent Android tablet.

dreadzone101 to djdynamite123

Yeah, in the dual OS screen you get, select Android with the volume rocker and then push power button again. It'll boot into another menu. Then Recovery is the 3rd option down.
dreadzone101
21 Dec 15 #130
Ohh, whoops. Misread your comment. Hmm nah, don't need USB connect to get into recovery menu. It's Power and Volume Down I think, not Volume Up (It's the side further away from the power button). Then it's the 3rd option down?
djdynamite123
21 Dec 15 #129
Yes I know, I used the same instructions lol. I used the 1.42 easy 15 seconds adb/fastboot installer though. So we must be connected via USB to get into recovery? bit strange isn't it?

Reason I ask is, I want to make another more recent backup using CWM, i did one originally when rooting but cant even find where it's wrote it on internal storage lol.

[EDIT] Oh forgot the root method is using a temporary CWM, that's why it doesn't show the menu when using power & vol+. So where on earth is the backup saved i (am sure I?) done, I cant find it lol.

Installed to Windows 10 via the update prompts. It took quite some time to complete in comparison to when I updated other devices to Windows 10 but apart from that no major issues. Didn't do the BIOS update. Everything's functional though. It installed straight into the latest update I think (Threshold 2). A few minor issues. The OS switcher pops up everytime Windows started up. So I kept seeing the message asking if I wanted to switch into Android. Fixed it by reinstalling the switcher program as mentioned in my post above. Another minor thing. I use desktop mode and the touch keyboard would only appear when I selected the address bar in a web browser but not in any other text fields. Was able to change it to auto appear via Settings > Devices > Typing > Switched on the last toggle setting under Touch Keyboard. Besides those things, everything seems fine.
dreadzone101
20 Dec 15 #125
Apparently it's the process in charge of the OS switcher that automatically starts when Windows boots and triggers that message to pop up. Found this thread. Tried the suggestion 3 replies down about changing the process to manual etc but didn't seem to work for me. In the end, I uninstalled the Insyde switcher program via control panel, then reinstalled it by downloading it from here. Had to reboot after uninstalling and then again after reinstalling but seems to be working fine now with no pop ups when Windows starts.

I bought it from dx mate, that exact EU link, yeah my apparent tracking number ends in NL too. And yep I get that silly popup about switching to android soon after loading windows 10 too, must be a way to stop the prompt surely? I think it's something in the startup programs that's enabled.
dreadzone101
20 Dec 15 #123
From DealExtreme or Gearbest? Gearbest one would be coming from China so might take a while. Someone else mentioned purchasing the keyboard and that it was being sent via NL post. Not sure if that was the Gearbest one but don't think they've received it yet either. I never bought one. Looks pretty nice although the outer material seems like it would attract a lot of dust/dirt. Appears to be fairly well made and seems to hold up well judging by this video. For Windows 10, do you get the OS switch message asking if you want to switch to Android, everytime you startup Windows?

Do you have the Linx 10 origami keyboard? Really curious as to whether the keyboards are cross compatible. It seems to have the same pogo pin magnetic connection as the Chuwi Vi10 and other chinese 10" tablets although the Linx is slightly smaller.

No it is the right tablet, the base speed of the processor is 1.33ghz. Most of the time your processor will be running at that speed (or even lower). The processor changes speed depending on what is happening, it has a burst speed of 2.16ghz. So yeah you got the right tablet and it is the same one I got.

What model versions you guys receive? My model is I505. (Deffo 2.16Ghz and 2GB Ram, 64GB) Received yesterday, all is fine, screen is perfect, no dead pixels, light pixels, patchy back light bleed etc. Booted straight into 32bit windows 8 setup which installed all drivers automatically. Touchscreen works, audio works, bluetooth works, auto rotate on windows worked. Installed Windows 10 32bit with the update prompt and all is perfect. Connected a little usb wireless mouse, all working well. However Android was initially in Chinese. Iv’e set it to English and then reset back to factory, and set to English again (just incase?!), but theirs a wad of Chinese apps (maybe 6 or so lol) or at-least apps with the icon logo in Chinese which can all be uninstalled. And from what I see image is fine, no blurry issues under Android like the video review or guys on the forum mention? hmmm.

Where did you find your version number?

Anyone having issues with the onscreen keyboard? Initially if I clicked the search bar on Google, after typing 1letter keyboard would disappear and it would force me onto the address bar, clicking on that and retyping worked but was annoying.

If they wasn't enough, now the onscreen keyboard isn't comin up at all when I click on address/search bars or even the password entry at boot up (that was fixable with a mouse and the accessibility options in bottom left of screen). Works on Android, so does mouse perfectly, and turning off/on hasn't worked.

I downloaded an app from play store called "texdroider_dpi" which allowed me to change the dpi after rooting. I had barely used the Android part of the tablet before rooting and changing dpi, so it's difficult to say for certain if it's much of an improvement. Apparently 148 dpi is meant to be the best setting for it.

Found this thread/fix in regards to the dpi. I wouldn't recommend it though. After doing it, I lost touch screen. Was bit of a headache fixing it. According to the comments it happened to others too but for some it worked. Probably not worth the gamble.

You can root it fairly simply with these instructions. I used this adb/fastboot driver

CharmingCharlie, yup everything works, touch pad (osd keyboard), sound, camera, bluetooth, usb mouse/keyboard and all the other bits still work. Not attempted to try mini HDMI as we'd never have no need for that. But yeah, everything in device manager all correct and above board. And yep, boots straight to android when I select it. However if someone removed the icon for the switch to android on the taskbar, i am not quite sure where it is, I cant find it by searching, so hopefully it doesn't accidentally get removed from the taskbar lol.

Iv'e literally just rooted android too, using nova launcher prime and adaway. One thing I cant do is fix the slightly blurry non crisp look of text in android. It's at 159 dpi, but should be 140 or so for better clarity, like windows shows. When I attempt it, it cant find device, either the program doesn't like the various adb fastboot drivers Iv'e tried, I don't know.
forcedv to djdynamite123

If you're rooted and don't like the look of the text, install one of the DPI changer apps from the play store.

Just out of curiosity, how did you root it?

Cheers for letting me know. I might give it a go next week when I have some time. Already done the process of upgrading from 8 to 10 with my Linx 10 but this tablet complicates things with it being android as well so just wanted to make sure, As for the mini-hdmi yeah never gonna use it myself either :-p

With regards to the androild switching icon on win 10 if you were to ever lose it you can find the program here "C:/Program Files/Insyde/InsydeQ2S" then just drag the "DualOSSwitcher" app to the windows 10 task bar and it should be back to normal.

You will have to pry mine from my cold dead hands ;-) . It really is a fantastic piece of kit a bloody steal at 80 quid. These cheap windows tablets really have come into their own over the past year. I hope you are able to get one, if you have to pay a bit more to get one from another site I would recommend it. These things are easily worth a 100 quid spend.

Yup same model as you the I505. I see you installed Windows 10 any problems with it ? Does the touch pad, sound, camera and all the other bits still work with Windows 10 ? Also are you able to boot into android from windows 10 now ?

Sorry to hear that Samuelson, I know it is something I dread happening when I order these things. I hope you are going to push Gearbest for a replacement it really is a decent tablet for it's money. As for the charging light behaviour, no that isn't normal. When you have the charger connected the light blinks whilst it is charging the battery. When the battery is fully charged and power is still connected the light stays on and when you are using the Tablet and the battery is discharging there is no light at all. So yeah I would say your tablet isn't behaving as it should :-(

You can find the version number of your tablet on the back of it down at the bottom in the middle. As for your onscreen keyboard issues, yeah the default Keyboard in win8.1 is pretty much a crime against humanity. There is a much better onscreen keyboard available but you have to activate it. Just go to Control Panel and then "Ease of Access center" and start the on-screen keyboard. It isn't a perfect replacement but it is a hell of a lot better than the god awful default touch screen keyboard.

Thanks for the in depth info Charlie. Could you comment on the speaker/sound quality? How do they sound compared to say the speaker on an iphone? Are the good enough for watching movies or are they very "tinny" and high pitched?
CharmingCharlie to keenan316
18 Dec 15 #109
I knew I forgot something :-p . I don't use the sound an awful lot on these tablets but I did have a play around watching some vids and music. I would say the speakers on the tablet are good for what you pay. I had the volume on full and the sound did not sound tinny or distorted and you can easily make out what is being said in movies. This is pretty impressive when you consider I am partially deaf. They are certainly better than you would expect in a tablet of this price.

I don't have the Iphone so can't compare it to that. However the devices I have are Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Linx 10 and Motorola G and I would say the speaker on the Chuwi is better than those.
CharmingCharlie
18 Dec 15 1 #106
I have had this Chuwi for about a day now and overall I am impressed. Firstly like others mine was delivered in a grey plastic bag that offered no protection and the charger was in a separate little white box from the actual tablet. My bag was also ripped slightly but thankfully not enough for the charger to fallout.

The tablet feels pretty decent to hold, much better than the plastic finish of the Linx 10 (which I also own). Unfortunately this thing is NOT light. I don't consider myself to be a weakling but even I found holding this tablet for more than five minutes was uncomfrotable. According to my scales it weighs just under 700grams. Aside from the weight it does look and feel nice though. The glass screen makes the touch screen good to use but as others have mentioned it is one hell of a finger print magnet. When I started the tablet up I had 85% charge and it booted into windows 8.1.

Software wise you get Windows 8.1 (32 bit) and Android 4.4. The 64gb of storage is split with Windows 8.1 getting 40gbs and Android getting about 10gbs and no windows can't access the android storage and vice versa) I already have the incessant nag app from Microsoft telling me I can upgrade to 10 for free. Whether I will upgrade this tablet to 10 is another matter. I don't like windows 10, I have it on my linx 10 and it was not a great experience. You can boot into Android from an icon on windows 8.1 (it reboots the tablet) and likewise when you are in Android there is an icon on the notification panel that lets you boot into windows 8.1. I haven't yet discovered a way to choose which os to boot into when you start the tablet up though and the manual was next to no help.

I won't say much about windows 8.1, it is windows it runs windows programs like a normal PC (just don't expect to run Crysis) and it runs steam just fine which makes it a very useful device to stream your PC games too via steam. I also tried Minecraft (java version) and it was surprisingly playable full screen on low settings). On the Android side I would say 4.4 is getting a bit long in the tooth. I have Android Marshmallow on all my other devices so switching back to 4.4 is a bit jarring. I haven't found any incompatible apps yet on the Android side. It runs the Fallout Pipboy app and the fallout shelter game just fine

The only problems I have found so far are firstly there is huge mouse lag for me in Android if you use a bluetooth mouse. I would go as far to say using a bluetooth mouse in Android is pretty unusable. The bluetooth mouse and keyboard work perfectly fine in Windows 8.1 so it is obviously something to do with the Android installation. Oh and Android was in Chinese when I first booted into it, but thankfully some wild guesses in the menu systems got me switched to English. There were several Chinese apps on the phone too but all these were removable.

I also encountered an odd hardware problem with the tablet yesterday. I like to leave the tablet on and always connected to the power. Yet whilst I did this I noticed the battery was going down so obviously the tablet was using more power than the power supply could provide. Today I tried a different USB cable and I am happy to report after 4 hours the battery is still at 100%.

All in all it is a pretty decent tablet, much better than the Linx 10. I am very pleasantly surprised and was relatively happy with the service from Gearbest (though they really need to work on how they package the products).

18 Dec 15 #105
Yes got the adapter but like you it was squashed and could of easily dropped out considering the bag had a circular cut/hole. Not very good from Gearbest as they dont help themselves there being exposed to more customer complaints in dealing with broken/lost items whilst being delivered.
dreadzone101
18 Dec 15 #104
Did you get your adaptor plug? I made a few comments about the packaging in the previous pages. Looks like everyone got the same plastic bag packaging which is terrible on Gearbest's part. Mine was slightly torn. Adaptor box was squashed a bit. One of the previous comments mentioned they never got an adaptor and said the bag was ripped open so it most likely fell out during delivery. Wouldn't be surprised if it has happened to others too. The corners of the tablet box would easily tear through the plastic bag.

17 Dec 15 #101
Yep received just now, in a thin greyish thin plastic sleeve bag, I'm pretty certain the device would of had to withstand some shock forces during transit, a good few bangs and knocks, all appears fine, screen perfect (no dead pixels or any bleed or light problems) booted straight to windows setup screen. It's kind of heavy in your hands, for the price, it's well built, feel strong to me.

[EDIT] Yep I also received the UK charger in the little CHUWI white box, although I wont use it.

Have to agree with you in respect to delivery as the postal bag it was in was ripped and the box the tablet is in didnt have anything around it protecting it so was a little worried even opening it up. The box the tablet is in seems quite strong but still considering its a tablet it should really be having extra packaging but all is working fine and a very nice tablet have to say

Yeah, I got a plug with mine. It wasn't in the Chuwi box. It was a separate box containing UK plug with USB port. USB power adaptors and micro USB chargers in general are widely available so shouldn't be a problem but perhaps contact Gearbest since this deal was specifically with the UK plug included.

Probably fell out then :disappointed:. My bag was slightly torn but luckily not big enough for it to have fallen out. The charger box was squashed however. Made a comment on the packaging in an earlier comment. If it was being put in that kind of bag, I would have expected some sort of wrapping to cushion it. The sharp corners of the box would easily cut through a bag like that. My charger says 5V 2A. I don't think this is that important though. Any micro USB charger should work. I think I saw a video review where the person said a different rated charger affected how fast/long it took to charge the tablet.

It seems there can be a number of issues if upgrading to Win 10 or the bios. Plus there's also different versions of this tablet which complicates things even further. Reading the comments below that Drivers/Bios page and also on this forum section is making me hesitant about trying to update anything. Hopefully when I do, it won't be too much of a hassle.
djdynamite123
16 Dec 15 #88
Ahh ok cool, i'd rather leave the partitions alone where as some have wiped the entire drive with just windows 10 on it. The driver installations you linked on the tech tablets page look a right mess about, there's that many folders within each folder, what /inf do you install, looks complicated.....

16 Dec 15 #86
Might be a while till I install it myself but I will eventually. I pretty much never use tiles in Win 10 but with tablet they'd probably be more useful and Win 8 seems better in that aspect, although Win 10 does have a setting so the start menu is a full screen of the tiles. Will post a reply though when I get around to upgrading it and let you know of any issues, if you haven't already installed it yourself.

i managed ok with the screen protector, loving having a windows tablet with full usb, pity about win 10, i was looking forward to trying to stream the xbox one onto the tablet. I think there are features in Win 8 that make it better for tablets like swiping from the right brings up a menu. Will be upgrading to Win 10 eventually though. Yeah, mine was in chinese for android too. Mentioned it in a comment on the previous page. Can change easily enough. Cog icon for Settings then. Language is near the bottom I think. Then it's the first option in that menu. Be careful when peeling off the screen overlay. There's a screen protector on it. When you pull the tab at the corner, be sure only 1 layer comes off and not the screen protector along with it.

Got the tablet, impressed so far... Had same issues with packaging, just a plastic bag basically, thankfully there was no damage though I did film the unboxing just in case.

Win8 is fine, I'll do win 10 once I've checked out more from techtablets.com, my android is in Chinese so I'm off to re work out how to change that. Shouldn't be too hard.

Would it happen to be a Logitech K400 from that deal a couple of months ago where they were £7.50 due to Logitech giving out £10 survey vouchers? I got one of those back then and hasn't even been unboxed. Will finally be put to use with this tablet :smirk:

OOO - I'll be heading home shortly and find out about packaging etc...

Hold that thought about touch screen issues with bios/windows 10. Techtablets website has a great forum and download section and there are some posts about touchscreen issues for doing both. I'd have that site open on something else when doing the upload. I've a logitech wireless keyboard with a touch pad that I'm gonna plug in and make sure that works before any updates.

just got a call from the yodel driver who says he's left the package outside my front door. Did you have much charge in tablet when you switched it on?

I'm not sure if the touchscreen issue was for upgrading to windows 10 or just upgrading the bios. Will need to check out techtablets before I do anything about upgrading.
dreadzone101 to weegieq
16 Dec 15 #79
Mine was delivered by Royal Mail but I think that's because I'm from N.I. Gearbest didn't package it up whatsoever though . It was the tablet box and a separate adaptor box inside one of those plastic delivery bags that clothes would normally be sent in . Luckily no damage to the tablet box although the adaptor box was squashed a bit. Hopefully everyone who ordered will get theirs intact! Mine had a fair amount of charge when I first switched it on. I think around 70% or so. Yeah, it seems the touchscreen issue is just after upgrading the bios. So hopefully the Win 10 upgrade itself should be a simple process.
djdynamite123
16 Dec 15 #76
So how is this setup exactly? Is there 2 separate partitions, 1 for windows and the other 1 for android?

Can you read into the android drive from within windows and vice versa? (Not an issue, just hide the drive on both platforms if that's the case).

I'm guessing it's best to install windows 10 from the windows 8 notification so to guaranteed a license. Then follow the link the fella posted above and update the BIOS and all drivers..... ?

Hmmmm, thanks.
dreadzone101 to djdynamite123
16 Dec 15 #77
I checked Windows disk management. There's actually over 15 partitions  But yeah, Android and Windows are on separate partitions. Windows is around 40gb and Android around 10gb. There's a recovery partition that's roughly 5gb and then there's a lot of mini partitions which I'm not sure are for what purpose. Don't think you can access separate storage between each of the OS.

At the end of the Win 8 initial set up process, it asks if you want to update to Win 10. I hit yes and it went into Win 8 and was downloading Win 10 via windows update in control panel. In the system tray, there was the "Get Win 10" icon so you can initiate it that way too I think. Switched off before completing the download. I read that the touchscreen drivers can be affected so might need a mouse handy when updating, in case.
dreadzone101
16 Dec 15 #75
Got mine this morning. Using it to type this. Initial thoughts are that it's definitely good value and seems like a good tablet. Be careful when peeling off the screen overlay. There's a screen protector on it so be sure you don't end up peeling it off as well when removing the overlay. Android was in chinese but got it set to english. There's a icon in windows taskbar to switch to android. On android, swipe down from the right of the top edge for the option to switch to windows again.

Will be updating to Win 10 in the near future. Anyone doing the same should be careful about drivers being an issue. Can download Win 10 drivers for this tablet here:

I ordered on Thursday and got dispatch email on Friday and it's the same for me. There's a link to this tracking site on my order page but when I try my tracking number, it says "Item is not found at this moment", so I reckon what previous person said, is the case here and it will probably be updated soon.

As for the keyboard, was it from Gearbest too? The keyboard that goes with this tablet isn't in stock in EU, only in China so I assume the tracking for it might be slightly different.
CharmingCharlie
14 Dec 15 #66
I ordered mine late Friday and Saturday afternoon I got the email with tracking number and like you when I go to tracking details I get "undefined". I wouldn't worry too much about it. All it means is your item is not in the couriers system yet. In my experience websites seem to have a very broad definition of "shipped". You will probably find your item has sat in Gearbests warehouse all weekend but because it is all parceled up and ready to go the company considers it shipped.

You will probably find that the tracking info will be updated today since this is the first full working day. In their delivery FAQ they do state that it can take a day or two for any tracking information to show up

Will this ever come back in stock?

Whats the next best option?
Specs look the same?
dreadzone101 to Neobrown
12 Dec 15 #64
Yeah, you can select UK plug under colour options in that link, which then tells you there's only stock in China and once selected the price becomes £92 whereas it's £122 from EU now which is the EU plug option. Not sure about next best option. Importing from China means possible customs and import tax. This tablet appears to be charged via micro USB port as opposed to a unique DC port. Micro USB chargers are readily available and you may already have some so UK plug option isn't essential.

Cherry Trail is considered an improvement over Bay Trail. However, the processors in these 2 particular models seem pretty similar so a lot of users probably wouldn't notice any performance improvement when it comes to general use.
http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Atom-x5-x5-Z8300-vs-Intel-Atom-Z3736F

As the previous person pointed out, that model is 32GB. The Vi10 Ultimate 64GB is £115, so more expensive again. Also keep in mind that other Vi10 models aren't in stock in EU and will be shipped from China. So if you go for a Cherry Trail version, consider the potential of customs charges added to the price.
Tarquin8484
11 Dec 15 #59
Well bear in mind that the Ultimate version only has 32GB of storage. The Pro has 64GB. It's a bit strange really. Gotta love the Chinese!

Note that this is the outdated model with the older 22nm bay trail atom.

The current V10 (pro?) has the cherry trail atom inside, as well as a display resolution from within this decade.
stanlenin to Roph
11 Dec 15 #15
Don't lie. The model is not outdated. Cherry trail which I own, only has a benefit of slightly faster graphics, which most wont have any use of.
As for the resolution it's perfectly fine.
I've never seen 10" 64Gb Windows tablet anywhere near this price. Even coming from China.
dreadzone101 to Roph
11 Dec 15 #16
It's the Vi10 Ultimate that has the updated Cherry Trail. However it keeps the same display resolution as the previous Vi10 models. It's the Hi10 model which has a higher 1920x1200 screen with Cherry Trail though but is currently twice the price.

I don't get how people can be upset about a 1280+ res. Most laptops have a 15" screen with a res of 1280 or 1366. I.e., a fair bit worse PPI. The only reason to want more PPI on a tablet screen smaller than your laptop's is well, I'm not sure. Maybe if you want to hold the tablet 6 inches from your face. Basically it doesn't make sense to put a full HD screen on a 10" tablet, unless laptops are also shipping with that as standard. If you hold your tablet a sensible distance from your face (save your eyes) you will not be able to tell the difference between 1280x720 and 1920x1080, for example. Rant over. In b4 "I have telescopes for eyes and can spot a dust mite at 30 paces".

I think the reason mine is different from yours is because I'm from N.I. My estimate is 2-4 business days whereas yours is says 1-3. The reason why I added ?wid=3 to the link in my reply is because 3 is the number for auto selecting EU warehouse. If there is no stock in EU warehouse (which is the case for that keyboard) it will ask you to choose another warehouse just like in your screenshot, with adding ?wid=0.
Sqsq
11 Dec 15 #52
A hint for GearBest: add (or change) ?wid=0 at the end of their URLs and it will pop up wherehouses where the item is available, eg:

http://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_182083.html?wid=0

shows this:

https://i.sli.mg/ggZ9bD.png

This helps for items where wharehouse info is not show - which almost always means it will ship from China.

On the mobile site, it doesn't give any indication that I can see, but on the full site, if you click "United Kingdom" where it says "Shipping Cost to:", it'll say "Stock in: China". Alternatively this link should let you see it's out of stock in EU: http://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_182083.html?wid=3

Experiences vary with all retailers.

Gearbest are in my opinion, the best cheap, electronics dealer to buy from, as long as you buy from its EU store.

From China it's a shot in the dark like every other company.

This 10" dual OS Tablet with its magnetic keyboard for less than £100 is an insane bargain.

Think about it:

- 10.6" full Windows 8.1 pc with 1 year office 365
- a proper magnetic keyboard that actually has a touchpad with left/right click and converts to a stand
- full size USB ports (no more carrying adaptors)
- free update to Windows 10

NOW you also get all the above when switching to Android!!

So, effectively you are buying two proper 10" devices with a proper keyboard/mouse pad for less than £100 and delivery from the UK.

What's not to like?

Yes, they do have a UK warehouse; I have ordered a few things from there which have been delivered in a couple of days. If not in stock, they still take your money (just in dispute with them at the moment as they will not refund for a phone which they can no longer supply) and ship from China.

As for Pump Lane, I have just had a package from another Chinese supplier which had a Royal Mail tracking number. The returns address for that was also Pump Lane (a dump of a place!) so they must have someone there looking out for a lot of these companies.

So asked PayPal to get on to it last night. They have suddenly responded stated the item in not in stock despite it still stating in stock online.

Still showing as £70.31 but when added to basket it says "Sorry, flash sale is over." so it appears to have expired.

It wasn't a Google search currency conversion. The price I listed was Gearbest's GBP price. If you pay by debit card, that was the final price. Via Paypal, invoice is USD so the cost would have been higher due to their exchange rates. But either way adding to basket changes it from £70.31 to £78.93 now so expired.

It doesn't mention anything about it in Gearbest description. However, from the review on Techtablets, it said:
"You also get 1 year of office 365 included, but you need to activate it within a few months or you can lose it. Oh and my Office 365 version was in English. This is worth around $60 so not a bad freebie."

So perhaps it's included but I wouldn't be 100% certain of it.

Not sure about Bluetooth keyboards but there's a magnetic keyboard/case that goes with this but appears to be out of stock in EU unfortunately:
http://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_182083.html

A video of how the case/keyboard looks with the tablet:

Any recommendations for a suitable Bluetooth keyboard ?
