I've always found Carling acceptable as a midweek beer, but of late it seems to have a really odd taste to it, almost a burnt taste. Maybe my tastes are changing, but Fosters tastes like it always did. Odd.

Nothing wrong with this and it's nothing like the "Black Label" of the 70s and 80s that your comments seem to be based on. It's 4% ABV, on a par with Becks Vier, so 50p per can would indeed appear to be a good deal.

Why do people always judge a drink by the volume of alcohol it contains? dunno about you lot, but most of the time i enjoy a beer without needing to get bladdered every time, so the alcohol content is irrelevant, besides you ain't gonna find tramp juice like tennents super or special brew for 50p a tin - blame the government for that!
