Thanks for that. I was hoping that I'll hear from them and then update the thread properly. Unfortunately, I am still waiting for a response. I definitely can't say with confidence that I have not missed out that digit from the serial number so the blame could be partially mine. I emailed them more pictures of the receipt, docket, box and barcodes. :smiley: I am awaiting a response before I accuse them of anything. Trading Standards is a good idea indeed, but I am hoping it won't come to that.

I am sure Costco will take it back if Canon decide to play it that way anyways. In my experience, Costco are amazingly good; Their "concierge" service was the best aftersales experience I've had when I had a Samsung TV develop a fault 4-5 years ago. They quickly sent someone out to diagnose the fault and simply just gave me the original purchase amount in cash. I actually felt guilty as the TV wasn't completely broken and we used it for 4 years.

I haven't quite decided on that though...

I would let them know that you intend to report them to trading standards if they do not honour the double cashback. That's what I'll be doing if they pull anything like that with me. I claimed 50 cashback on a 450D back in 2008 and they were pretty good to be honest. They sent me a cheque back then but now they only pay by BACS

Hey all. Just wondering if anyone got their cashback yet? I logged on to find that I apparently missed a digit from the serial number, that my proof of purchase is invalid and that the total amount is 50 (instead of the double-cashback 100 I expected.) Now before I start calling out conspiracies :smiley: , just wondered if anyone else got their cachback approved / paid out?

Thanks to the OP for posting this I managed to get one on the last day of the discount at Costco. Fantastic camera and a massive upgrade on my 450D.

Canon are running DOUBLE CASHBACK deal on the 750D from 25/12 to 13/1 inclusive

So Cashback for the 750D is now £100.

A nice EF-S lens for this is the 24m f/2.8 STM . Also included in double cashback offer so £20 CB is now £40. Its £129.99 on Amazon so £89.99 after BB. A bargain lens and being STM driven is silent for video use. 24mm on APC-C is 38mm FF/35mm film equivalent.

Oh, I was going by a deal last week on HUKD that had it around 700 after cash back. I got mine for 700 with the kit lens after cash back to from a store in Wales who delivered to me.

You're comparing a camera with lens with a body here. That's not a straight up comparison at all!

A7 is £775 with kit lens at Amazon after cashback (can't see any body only much cheaper). A7 II body only is £1,089 after cashback. I personally think the extra 40% outlay is worth it for the features - particularly for those who have Canon glass and will use it with an adapter. Obviously the A7R II is better than either, but that's £2,499.

Bit of a price jump there! 450 to 700 I can see, but 450 to a grand. Hurts a bit more :laughing:

Ah this is the point where you're better off just holding out. Take the 450 and bank it. When you get a couple hundred more spare later buy something like an A7 on sale.

The 750d is a lovely camera, and the 760d is a great camera too. It has become my new companion on my business trips.
What firefly said is true. I moved from a Sony CSC to a DSLR and even though the 760d is more for amateurs moving from another DSLR, the 750d is still a great deal for people new to DSLR.

Fair enough :smiley: I have the 500D (and got it when the 550D was in-trend with the 600D just coming out...) and now it is so far behind in terms of the series that I've personally decided to invest in whatever is the newest/most sophisticated (of either XXX/XX/X series) rather than save a little and regret it in the future. It takes excellent photos (albeit subjective as I have not trialed a more recent version) but when compared to the most recent spec, it's probably worth upgrading and would just ask people consider future-proofing as you never know in 2 years time whether those features are actually needed.

To be honest, if you're spending this much, you might as well get the latest version i.e. 760D.

I know theres a few slightly cheaper from non-confirmed sites. Given the small price difference my money would be with Costco I think. 2 year guarantee as standard, if its the same warranty as with their TVs its a straight no questions replacement or refund.

I took a look at slrhut when I was buying mine, shocking reviews almost universally. Price seemed too good to be true and i guess it is.

US based even though they have a UK number and reports suggest second user items and terrible customer service. Plus no cash back, is it worth the risk to save a fiver?
