Got two questions, how did your grand kids wear out a game? And how old are they because this is an 18...

Just putting my foot in, CoD Ghosts is one of the least explicit CoD titles. It is also rated a 16 in the UK. Most kids nowadays have a go on the games as a social event, not practicing for further murders... I wonder why society functions when we have people thinking that censoring the whole world should be aloud to keep children form knowing things. Kids are prone to learn, play and explore new places and things so why not give Tracy a break and be more concerned about what your kids are doing. The age on the box is not the whole story.

I was the original person who brought up age in this thread and have just checked back to see if there was any reply. I think my reasoning is a bit different for being concerned by this than others as I don't think anyone here is qualified to discuss what effects exposing a young mind to this type of media may or may not do. My concern is the damage that is caused to my hobby every time the media can link gaming to a tragedy.
We have all seen news where some kid who was reported to be sweet and sensitive went on a killing spree. Of course this was down to the copy of GTA/CoD or whatever violent game they played that the media will vilify as the sole reason for this (although I never see mention of the parents being in the wrong for buying said game). To me this is sensationalist journalism, but articles like this get noticed by the pitchfork crew and subsequently the government who must represent the people. We already have politicians lobbying to ban games, games that have been cut because of the news surrounding them and generally games being demonised for everything wrong in the world so don't need any more fuel for the fire.
I suppose my final question, as an aside, would be would you buy anything 18 rated for your grandkids?

You've got the right attitude! Children can't be censored from the world because then they wont understand adult themes when they mature. You spending time with your kids playing mature video games is a smart way to interject some context into their lives. I'm sure they aren't Toerags, but I never said that, it was a different HUKD user.

dont pretend you didn't play age restricted games when you were a kid. I played the original GTA when I was 11 or so, a Guardian should be involved to explain what the child is seeing so they can understand the world isn't all flowers and rainbows.

I've seen what they're like, total toe-rags, effing and blinding their way through life. You should hang your head In shame, encouraging young children to play ultra violent adult games.
Just my opinion!

14, too young! So they began playing when they were maybe 12? It's no wonder society is going downhill fast!
