Ok so I am not sure how long this is valid for and I know that we already know that you can get a free tall drink if you buy a £10 gift card but you can also get any free cake (code 2012)
So buy your card at £10 and get your drink. Add it to your starbucks account and then you will then see your free bakery offer. In effect you are saving £5 or more. Limited time!
Nationwide card holders also get 50% cashback up to £7.50 presently

Top up £10 to receive an instant tall drink, once you register you will be sent a voucher code for you free bakery item. If you top
up by £20 you will also be sent another voucher code for a free drink. After 2pm you can get any grande drink for £2 if you are paying with a Starbucks card up until 1st Jan 16.... I work for a Starbucks. It's all very confusing

any that accept Starbucks cards. Some franchises don't but most do now, so you would have to check with the individual store

activate a new card in store and register online, or In store or online with an existing card I believe... and yes with the app too

I'm confused.
Have bought a Starbucks gift card to take advantage of the recent Nationwide Rewards offer.
Now have I bought a gift card or the card people use for loading up or are they one and the same?
If I create an account and use the app on my phone does that mean I don't use the card anymore?
Please someone explain to a simpleton like me.

Johnny, they are one and the same. You can STILL use the plastic card if you like (say to help if phone had died for example).
You can load up the card online (not on the app) to your account, or create account if you don't have one. The Balance of the card will go into your App once you have signed in on your phone. IF you already have another card (suspect you don't but others may), then to go into that card and move balance (unless you do want multiple cards, I prefer not to), Click Pay then go to the card that you have just loaded (topped up). Then click Manage and Transfer Balance to your Main Card. You can delete the card then from your account to make life easy.

Thank you PowickAV for taking the time to explain. I think I understand so I'll give it a go and see. I have enjoyed the odd SB and Costa along the way but not too frequently as I'm trying to watch the waistline. It's just my daughter has started to take a liking to them so I'm thinking the NW offer and the bonus cups and cakes along the way will help save the pennies.

If you add the card to an existing account you will not get the free bakery item. It is for new registered accounts only, no good if you collect stars.
There was a 2012 code for all starbucks customers as an apology for sending a welcome email out to all custo.ers instead of the new ones only.
Also the free tall drink with a £10 Gift card was posted by me last week or the week before.

The link posted is showing the American site for some reason - you can change location on the bottom of the page - look for the American flag and it will let you change your location there or try this link instead http://www.starbucks.co.uk/?gclid=CN_bmarJ8ckCFWgUwwodkOIEZQ which will take you directly to the UK site.

You can also use the Nationwide Cashback offer to get 50% back off a max £15 spend. So technically you can get a £10 card plus a drink and a cake for £5! THATS A HOT DEAL!

Have to add a note of warning here: my cashback hasn't tracked, and I've only had form emails back from the nationwide.visaoffers.eu contact form so far, despite the confirmation saying I should hear from them within 1 working day. Maybe they've all knocked off early for Christmas.

Jacquie, it's instore when you activate a new card only (use to top up). If you had topped up by £20 through the app you will get a free drink, however still waiting for this!

Depending on how thrifty you are, in theory you could buy the credit, get the freebie and then request the cash on the card to be paid back into your bank account:

Here's a better deal - support your local non-chain coffee shop instead of one of these damned chains.
OR, buy a really good coffee from the supermarket and make your own to take to work in an insulated mug.
If it costs £10 for 3 coffees or 2 Christmas coffees, you people must have more money than sense!

I agree in that unfortunately my salary does not stretch to daily bought lunches and coffees. What it does cover is a treat sometimes especially for my daughter who is just getting into the whole coffee shop experience so these deals help save the pennies.
Ths local shops don't always have the same appeal to a teenager.

Avoid Starbucks if you use the NHS or your children go to a state school.
