Was looking at a CPR V202 call blocker but for less money this trio of phones has call blocking facility built in.
Use code RDXMAS459 to get £10 discount to get for this price (Kudos please to jimmybo for posting this code).

Probably a daft question - but does anyone know if all of these call blocker facilities will work on a Virginmedia phone line?

Yes, with one caveat, you do need caller ID...we got Virgin to give us this for free after having so many nuisance calls. Now we do not get any.

Brilliant phones, we bought these from Robert dyas earlier in the year. 100% of all unwanted calls gone. Easy to set up too :-)

Thanks hnb2907, I've taken the plunge and gone for them myself. Always helps when others can recommend them first hand.

Note that you need caller ID service for nuisance blocking phones to work. I guess this is why there are so many as new refurbs of nuisance blocker phones on ebay.

They really are superb, these. As other posters have said - they absolutely filter out all the **** calls that we used to get day after day. Great product.

Good price, and they are damn excellent. Really work and we haven't had a single call ring from scammers since - literally zero from anything from 4 to 10 a day previously!

Wish I had bought these years ago. Went from 5 or 6 ppi calls a day to none. Plus you can block anyone you don't like(generally family I've blocked

Something to bare in mind....... They do still work without caller id. It's true that you can't block an unknown number, however, the cold call is answered by BT first of all(so you're completely unaware), then if the cold caller states their name, and presses the # button, the call is then made audible to you. I don't have caller Id, but have gone from 4 or 5 calls a day, to none.

The main problem is that it isolates everyone to have to go through the rigmarole of having that pre-check as there is no way to store their number on a known list. It then can rapidly become an inconvenience to friends and family who go through this pre-screening each and every time they call you....although to some people the reluctance of friends and family phoning due to this inconvenience could be seen as a boon :innocent:
The other 'problem' I have found is with call back services such as Amazon Customer Service callback requests...you need to state a mobile phone number otherwise it blocks such calls.

You can block foreign calls. That's all you need.

2 Dec 15#25
According to the spec it "automatically lets through saved numbers"
cicobuff
2 Dec 15#26
Yes, but it has to know what those numbers are...without caller ID it does not have that ability even if you (also in the spec) manually input known numbers...without caller ID anyone that calls has to go through that pre-screening, there simply is no way for it to tie up a number in its memory bank to a number without caller ID..hence why anyone that calls would consistently be put though the pre-screening unless you turned off the feature fully which defeats the purpose.
This could well be (as stated by another member earlier) one of the reasons why there are a good number of refurbished ones. My twin pack was bought as a refurb, as was my parents and the units are as new.

Just logged into my bank and noted that they have a 15% cashback offer on making this £38 plus postage.
I am seriously considering this set but the inability to save family numbers and it recognise it properly, without caller ID is worrying. How would I go about getting caller ID? (Bearing in mind that I am about to get a new phone and internet contract soon)

2 Dec 15#28
Sorry Kais, I'd already tried that before I bought mine. You can either use the £10 off code OR 15% off, but not both.
Same with the free delivery code for orders over £50.
Kais
2 Dec 15#29
Huh? My bank would give me 15% cashback, no codes required. I am not trying to use both the £10 off code and the 15% off code. I would use the £10 off code on the website and pay for it. At the end of the month my bank would give me 15% back.
I mentioned it to get others to check before purchasing.

Sorry Kais I misunderstood as I had tried a 15% code. Hope it works for you if you decide to buy.
