What a sad state the country is in, where people can't even judge vegetables for themselves. I honestly feel sorry for you that you have to pay more hoping that you get better quality food.
Most people can touch and look at good and know the quality. And Aldi/Lidl quality is often better than Tesco ones at twice the price.

Ive never had a problem witht the fruit and veg at ALDI it always lasts the week and it always tastes proper, when ive had from Tesco and Asda you have to wait ages for stuff to rippen so you can actually eat it and once it has its not decent quality.

At least at Tesco you get decent quality though. In our experience vegetables from these discount chains are sub par and don't keep at all, they go off after a few days. Broccoli that is more expensive but still edible after a few days is still better value than having to throw away your Aldi one and buy again. In fact I saw a documentary the other week that confirmed they take the crap the other supermarkets don't touch.
