The different phones could well make a difference in sound, cant you test it out on his phone to make sure.
They will definitely refund the full amount but you will need to inform them if its a higher value.
I once returned an item that cost about £50 but it was heavy and the return postage cost £60 which is obviously more than the item yet they refunded the whole amount including postage. Ive never had a problem in returning items to various Amazon sites.

right so it arrived late evening charged it connected to my iphone 6 its really quite not loud at all my mate has the exact same one iv heard it and its much louder than mine he had his connected to and Android Galaxy phone this cant make any difference surly can it. Email Amazon France for a return as its faulty and they will pay return costs.They will automatically pay up to €8 but as it will cost more you may need to attach a copy of the return postage to the email but you will get a full refund.

You could try using a bluetooth transmitter that plugs into the headphone socket of the tv. I use one for my bluetooth headphones.
It also has an Aux input so you could also just use a phono jack cable.

Did you call Amazon or email them. I find emails are very responsive. Also if you have a tracking number go direct to the courier who is delivering it rather than using Amazons tracking.

If you use Amazons own exchange you wont be charged anything else on your card. If you choose to pay in Euros then you will usually pay a fee of about 3% on your credit card unless its a no fee card.
