Hi mate,
I'm not sure I could advise you on an alternative at the moment but I just ordered a Black and Decker corded hedgetrimmer which I'm waiting on to arrive. I'll let you know what it's like when I use it.

10.8v is low power for a decent power tool - better off getting the 18v version.

Pretty sure this is the one I have - light as a feather, only 1 button to switch on (see previous comment re numerous safety switches) and I get 30 mins constant use on catoniaster hedging. Doesn't jam either. Much better than my previous qualcast corded one.
They do a cordless version of it, which I can't comment on, but the corded version is great.

Been after something like this for a few weeks to tame the 10 x "Cupressus/Goldcrest" or whatever they're called.
They were neat little bushes when planted 3-4 years ago, but they've shot up the last year or so and they gonna need a trim.....a big trim.
Didn't realise when I planted them that they can apparently grow 5 metres tall.:confused:

Have one of these. Not great. The battery doesn't last long and it wouldn't cut butter. Also, they number of safety switches you have to hold to operate it make your hands cramp in pain! Cold from me.
