The 'Pro' version isn't worth the extra money apparently. I am basically happy with my X5 but it won't stay connected to my home wifi for some odd reason. Otherwise a good deal, not quite as cheap as before though.

Tell the phone to use a static ip address. Also make sure your router is also set to static for the device.

It's a common issue with China phones.

Ive a Doogee Valencia, had it nearly two years and don't agree at all with your observation.
For me its an android toy as I use a blackberry for phone and text but keep a Three 321 sim card in the valencia and use it once a month for texts to keep it valid.
The apps are fine, navigation works well and its got a very good screen Ive also used it with chrome cast.
For the money it was a very good purchase.
The only downside is battery live when viewing a movie or using satnav and it get quite warm in those apps.

Don't waste your cash, even if you're lucky enough to receive your order these daft named Chinese handsets look good on paper but god awful in use. Maybe in 5 years time they might have software that works and ironed out most of the bugs, but I doubt it.

I think the problem is that this phone got only 2 or 3 point multitouch while most of the other phones got 10-point...im not playing games but i notice some issues with zoom in-out,scrolling etc when more than two finger on the screen
vassy201187
6 Dec 15 #59
Thanks for the enlightenment. For the price we pay we can only expect 2-3 point multi touch right?
My only reason for buying is its dual sim and got some good hardware for a lesser price.
pwel
6 Dec 15 1 #60
i was also a little sceptical about software on chinese phones, but on the pro everything is smooth and spot on, feels like a phone you can buy from a highstreet shop...for sure other phones got issues ( heard a lot about UMI) but personally probably i ll go again for a doogee if decide to upgrade
pwel
6 Dec 15 #61
I think you ll agree than you cant find anything better even for 10, maybe 20 quid more...also a thing that most people underestimate is that from the 2gb ram, about 1.4 are available! i dont think any other 2gb phone can manage this, i was looking on the lenovo k3 and xiaomi note 2 (cost twice as much) and they were about 700-800mb free, for this single reason i went straight for the pro
vassy201187
6 Dec 15 #62

simply not worth the annoyances that come with the poorly optimised software if looking to use it for any reasonable length of time. these chinese phones look good on paper but are a huge chore to use day-to-day (if they don't develop some fault that prevents usage completely).

from personal experience of buying/using chinese brand phone, i would gladly pay double (or more) for an established brand from a european seller for: 1. better optimised software/UI 2. smoother day-to-day operation, less lag, etc 3. possibility of updates 4. much better build quality/quality control 5. reliable warranty in case something does go wrong.

Much better than my 1st gen Moto G. kept running out of storage on the Moto G (only 8GB and no micro-sd slot) but now I have 72GB using a £10 64GB card and can configure the phone just as I like it. I'm with Tesco and got the pro yesterday. 4G didn't work properly until I created a new APN for the Tesco network. It automatically picks up that your on an O2 network and assigns you O2 APN settings (Tesco uses O2 networks).

You need to add the tesco server settings, user name and password as a new APN. As soon as did that this morning my 4G data started working instantly.

9 Dec 15 #117
Gearbest do that too. Seems to be a way of reducing their claims, they either ask for videos or images even for obvious missing items that couldn't be anything else. Paypal refunded me after I claimed I didn't have a camera because I was in between phones but to be honest I couldn't be arsed to do the video/images for a missing screw and small cable. For the screw I could take a picture of where its meant to go but the missing cable is a mystery unless I take a picture of an empty space.

Problem is if you leave it on ,its like looking through fog ie its blurry like dvd/vhs not hd as it should be and also less responsive ie the capacitive is less.

Ps - let us know what you order off ebay and how it fits on etc

The screen protector on mine was pretty clear to be fair. I only took it off because there was a tiny speck of dust trapped underneath right in the top corner. It was nothing really and I wish I'd left it now.

I will let you know how I get on with the replacement screen protectors :-)

Ordered 2 on seperate orders on Xmas eve, they both arrived yesterday.

Very pleased with them for the money. Should stop the kids asking to play games on my phone for a while....

One of mine had dust under the screen protector too, agree the fingerprints are terrible with it off. Ordered the flip case + glass protector bundle with the phones so will try and apply them tomorrow.

Appalling retailer. Their 3 day guarantee means nothing to them.
