Diesel ran his first engine on peanut oil, it's just the rubbish oil companies sell us that's the problem. Remember benzine is highly carcinogenic, don't inhale the petrol fumes from the adjacent pump next time you fill your diesel.

My Cars are both Diesels but my boat isn't, and it has about 200 liters spare capacity to fill :wink:
Don't care how cheap it is, I wouldn't put that **** in my car, clog my DPF up. Go to a proper garage like Shell or Esso. Buy expensive car put cheap happy shopper fuel in, wtf?

If your DPF is clogging you are driving your car incorrectly.
Supermarket fuels are exactly the same as branded fuels. They come from the same refineries and are often delivered in the same tankers as branded fuel.
However, petrol stations will often add their own additives to fuel (Similar to Redex) for which they claim their 'magic' properties. It's important to remember though that cars are designed for fuel with no additives and that additives can actually cause damage!
Anyone remember the "Formula Shell" debacle of the 80's? Shell were one of the first to add additives to their fuel. The additive was added with a bucket at the filling station, because Shell was buying fuel from various other suppliers.
Only problem was their Formula Shell additive would slowly build up on valve stems, eventually causing them to stick and wrecking the cylinder heads.
When people tried to claim they were turned away by Shell on the basis they couldn't prove where they bought the fuel, but a number of Police forces were successful as they bought the fuel on contract from Shell, could prove they used the fuel and Shell replaced all their engines..
Formula Shell was quietly dropped and they have been trying to bury the story ever since.

You clearly no **** all about Diesel do you. Companies pay premiums for different grades and filtering levels. That Asda fuel will leave more deposits and minerals in both your DPF, fuel pumps, egr valves and other components. Has lower a octane level and more than likely less lubricant. I would think twice before putting that **** in old MacDonald's tractor let alone my car. And thanks sir but I don't even have to leave my drive to regen my DPF so even if I didn't know how to drive a Diesel I could regen without interupption on my driveway. You carry on putting happy shopper ASDA in, each to their own I suppose :smiley:

Depending on what type of vehicle you are driving, whether it’s been tuned or has a standard map, you may notice differences between using different filling stations, even between the branded ones. BUT the fuel is all from the same refineries which all meets the British Standards, so you can use any to fill up your vehicle with petrol or diesel, knowing it’s all of the same ‘base’ fuel.

1 Litre price = £ 0.1613 or just 16p (Excluding any import tax, vat or any processing fees etc).
Even if you add 200% tax and 100% processing charge on per litre then it should not be more than 75p / Litre

Added Tesco momentum yesterday as was nearing empty, very cheao and had to do a run, got 10 miles when check engine light came on for cat issues. Every time. Why do I never learn - avoiding Tesco full stop now..there really is a difference with supermarket fuels with sportier engines

I took my eyes off the oil market for 3 hours!! and ...
Brent crude prices have PLUMMETED this afternoon. Since Wednesday, it has been between $39.50 and $40.40, but I see it fell to just over $37 this afternoon. That has got to hurt. It has recovered a little bit, but not much. That's a 5% reduction, or 1-2p per litre. In just 3 hours!!

Oh, and to those of you debating the duty rate, don't forget to add 20% VAT to that duty. Yes, duty is subject to VAT!! And nobody is going to deliver that oil from the well to the refinery, refine it, and deliver it to the petrol station, pay the staff, all for nothing. As I I have said before, the $0 per barrel price for oil equates to about 75p per litre at the forecourt. I really can't see it going below 90p per litre, but current oil prices this afternoon and low demand for diesel should see prices of about 94.9p per litre for diesel and 96.9p per litre for petrol. That makes this 'special offer' from Asda a poor one at best.

Diesel fuel or derv is quite refined now and must be used in modern compression combustion engines. However, my 1982 VW Golf 1600 Diesel ran on what was available. I drove in Norway on untaxed boat fuel and at times in Europe had to put some petrol and paraffin in the tank. Sadly, after 200,000 miles I had to sell it.

Used to use Asda unleaded in my old Golf mk4 until I needed a new EGR Valve for it and the garage said it was probably down to the type of fuel I was using! Stick to Shell/Esso now and no problems since.

Brent crude prices have PLUMMETED this afternoon. Since Wednesday, it has been between $39.50 and $40.40, but I see it fell to just over $37 this afternoon. That has got to hurt. It has recovered a little bit, but not much. That's a 5% reduction, or 1-2p per litre. In just 3 hours!!
