Asda Mobile PAYG have reduced their £15 bundle Tariff to £10 till April. 1000 mins, unlimited texts and 2gb data. Thought this was quite a good deal as no contract and they piggy back off EE. The bundle last for 30 days.
Utter rubbish! There isn't a better 3G bundle available. Plenty of people have no need for 4G and there must be millions of 3G handsets still in use. If you would rather live in a more advanced part of the planet then just go.

Does this also include the actual £10 top up or is this a bundle costing £10?

Not really payg, just a monthly contact.
"There is no roll over with our bundles. Any minutes, texts or data left after 30 days will expire."
Very few do real payg, where you pay money and a set amount of service is bought regardless of time taken to consume the service. All these are, are monthly contracts.
Jonsam08 to eserim
25 Dec 154#9
How is it not? There is no binding contract? There's is no minimum commitment, no credit check? You can't run up a bill, u pay and literally use it, if you don't pay you can't use it?!? If you do not want a bundle it's 8p per min 4p per text if you prefer a set amount to use whenever you want?
eserim
25 Dec 153#10
In my mind it is a monthly deal, you need to pay a set amount each month to get the service, failure to pay the minimum amount means you lose the service despite what you have already paid
I'm on a annual contact. I get so much stuff per month, which also doesn't roll over.
If the minimum top up is £5 a month and it doesn't provide any service for more than 30 days it is a £5 a month package.
True payg, like 3 have is where you buy stuff up front and can use it over whatever period you want. The crucial difference is the lack of a time element in the contact/ terms and conditions.

You do not lose the service if you fail to pay! If you fail to top up do you lose the service on traditional pay as you go?
These bundles were created to be like a contract but they are not contract they are pay as you go. If you don't like them then use the 8p min and 4p text which is good value

I've recently switched to Life Mobile after a horrendous experience with Talkmobile. They answer the phone very quickly and are English speakers based in the UK. I was very impressed and you can't normally say that about mobile companies. One thing they piggyback EE and if your current provider is EE or runs on EE it takes 7 working days to port your number.

Please post the PAYG bundle deal you found that's so good it makes this one look cold, very cold. It's not in the spirit of HUKD to keep it to yourself.
OP, might I suggest an edit to the title? "£10.00 till April" made me think if I buy the bundle the allowances will last until April, but as you rightly say in the post itself it only lasts 30 days. "£10.00 for 30 days -- offer expires in April" would be clearer.

Got my dad the life mobile deal where it's £6 per month (30 days contract), 1500 minutes, 1gb data and unlimited texts through uswitch a few weeks ago, also doesn't require any credit checks so it seems like a payg...got his old number ported over within 48 hours no problems, everything went smoothly!

I looked around and concluded that Asda were one of the best deals and this post seems to be a good opportunity to join. You can though just take out the traditional payg deal with calls at 8p per minute and texts 4p each (data is 5p per MB and only 3G so not good for heavy use). The £7 a month deal https://mobile.asda.com/bundles has 300 minutes unlimited texts and 500 MB of 3g data. I have also found dealing with them on the phone good a real person answers quickly and very helpfully.

Looks a great deal, but the reviews of this network iD are not very good, as it using Three, it says that the 4G only covers just over 50 percent of the county and it has the slowest 4G out of all providers averaging just over 8mb. Pity, I would have considered this.

I really don't understand who buys these bundles. Who knows in advance they are going make a lot of calls/data in the next 30 days then won't make enough calls/data to justify buying a bundle for a while?

I actually sorted a guy out with one of these sims. He doesn't have access to normal financial services....and almost certainly has a v.v.poor credit profile. So this deal is great for him. He can top up his £10 each month when he visits Asda, and doesn't have to worry about being overcharged.
I think it's great value for money - and the data is tetherable too.

It cannot possibly be PAYG because the £10 and the data/calls/texts that it buys only lasts for 30 days. At the end of that 30 days, if you want to continue using the phone you need to pay another £10, therefore it's a £10/month contract. True PAYG is where you pay an amount (say £10) and you just use the phone until that runs out. A £10 topup used to last me almost 6 months because I didn't use the phone much.

When this deal was posted Life Mobile were offering 3000 minutes, unlimited texts, and 3G of data for £10/month on 1 month contract with overspend cap as low as £1. No credit check required. So I guess expensive bundles like this are for unfortunate people without bank accounts.
This ASDA bundle is going up to £15 in a couple of weeks. Life will still do 1500/5000/2 for £9.95 a month.

I'm sure this one could run and run, but I cannot see how this isn't PAYG. There is no ongoing commitment beyond the top-up you have already put on your phone, you pay as you go literally. It's just that instead of choosing to go one text at a time, one call at a time, you can instead go 1 bundle at a time. If you use the bundle up you are back onto standard PAYG terms for the remainder of the 30 days period. People generally have an idea in advance of their usage and can buy bundles to save money accordingly. I use ASDA mobile, if I worked in the UK then as I no longer have a landline that includes calls I'd prob go for either the 500min or the 1000min option (clearly 100min at the mo given the offer), but whilst I spend a lot of time out of the country I know 300mins is plenty. Other times I don't get a bundle at all as I expect I'll be using too few calls to do son. My son is on ASDA mobile too (I do his top-ups) and only has a phone for emergencies so he just gets credit and no bundle.
