For those wondering about customs the sellers on Gearbest (and other websites) often lower the value so it passes through the customs and no extra charge is applied. You can ask them if you want to be certain, though.

Install wukong remote on your android smartphone* and you'll have a great remote control for this.

I think you use this like a phone and download the app called torrent stream controller that has all the channels in it. need to allow from untrusted sites on the box.

Get the Rii i25 remote to use with this. I have one and it's about the best remote you'll find for these boxes.
As for getting all the channels, you're really better off googling how to add them yourself. A lot of the time when they come fully loaded, they'll work at first but as the repositories aren't set up properly, they'll start to go wrong and you'll have no idea how to sort them out.
I always completely remove Kodi and start from scratch to install just the bits I want.

I tried to give KODI a go, but found it too inconsistent to be a reliable solution, id spend ages looking for a working stream / one with decent image, only for the next time links to have been disabled. Its far from a replacement for subscription service
Unless of course I was using it wrong??
Dougal1709 to chelmsfordman

It'll never be as stable as Sky or Virgin because it's free rather than costing 50 quid a month. That said, if you know what you're doing and which hosters to use, you should be able to find a reliable HD stream for whatever you want to watch. It's all about configuring the Add Ons properly.

I don't bother with "builds", as they fill your box with a ton of junk you don't need... there's YouTube videos to show you how to put them on though, a popular one is "The Beast" - so search for that in YouTube

Yeah if you're new to android box market, you'll be bombarded with tons of options. Most of the boxes all look the same but rebranded ie mxiii or mxq boxes. They grab an oem and slap their own fancy name on it. It will be the remote control that will annoy you the most from these budget boxes as they tend to suffer from response lag. I choose the minix neo x8-h plus myself as the built on keyboard and remote mouse are great combo for navigating around menus. Don't get sucked in with all the fully loaded stuff. You'll more likely do a fresh install with kodi to remove all the junk that doesn't work on the preloads they give u
mecheekymonkey
14 Dec 151#41
You can get a lot of stuff with these boxes, make sure u have fibre optics or cable as the servers that host these freebie contents aren't usually local and you'll be buffering to end of days on a 4mb connection!

Exactly, yes it can only in a much more reliable and easier to manage way once you have installed and configured Kodi. Amazon's interface is much better and you would have to pay well over the odds for a Chinese remote that comes close to matching Amazon's remote, at which point you've spent any potential savings anyway.

You don't have to redirect anything. You just install it over adb. There are even free GUI apps to do it now if you're scared of using command shell interfaces.

Does this box actually support full HD resolution ie 1920x1080? From the revues it seems it does not.
One most annoying thing is not being able to skip forward on the remote. I don't know whether this is possible (easily) with this remote.
And a 'resume' feature is also useful. Where it will remember where you were last time you used it.

Western digital boxes have a good resume. None of the TVs I have do (all Samsung) and they have a very convoluted scan forward or back . I wouldn't mind trying this box. It's cheap enough but a lot of the stuff I've got is full HD. I think probably I'd be better off with a box with 4K support (as mentioned earlier) that must be better at full HD

You can just use es file exporer now which is available through the amazon app store then add a new "favourite" and give it the url of the addon you want and you can download the zip from inside es file explorer. Then go into Kodi and "install from zip file" the file will be in the device's download folder.
