I used this offer last time to buy stamps.
You can of course buy individual stamps in any quantity. However, this might help work out a shopping list in advance of hitting that queue:

£0.63 1x Normal Stamp
£7.56 Book of 12x Normal Stamps
£0.95 1x Large Letter Stamp
£3.80 Book of 4x Large Letter Stamps
2nd Class
£0.54 1x Normal Stamp
£6.48 Book of 12x Normal Stamps
£0.74 1x Large Letter Stamp
£2.96 Book of 4x Large Letter Stamps

Have used it for gift cards in Argos before and it's worked, the last time a couple of months ago so unless something has changed recently which it may have I guess.
If it happens again use the cardmembersoffers.co.uk website and message amex.
