Cheapest deal anywhere for a Fury X. About £80 cheaper than prices elsewhere and the same price as a non-x Sapphire Fury so a definite bargain.

You're comparing single GPU to CFX. CFX has been poorly supported for a long time. Their single GPU's aren't that bad.

still a good price, it's normally around £490. maybe it'll be even cheaper in January.
no one should ever use amazon's conversion rate, almost always your card company's.

if you ever return the product they will give you back euros which is a really bad rate. So paying this much, people should be using amazon converter. Pay £416 get back £416 not like £400 due to conversion

It will be great if someone could help me. I went on to Amazon France and came across a laptop deal. Any one know if the windows will be in French or English? Thank you.

The windows language can be changed easily in control panel but you'll find the keyboard to be different. It's the special character keys that you'll find are in a different place. For example.

@bigtam, never use amazon's conversion which is a rip off. Your bank will offer a better rate. Ideally use a revolut card for the best rates available - they match the exact interbanking prevailing rate so what you see on xe.com is what you get. I've saved a fortune using revolut for cross currency purchases. It also means i get the best rates possible for a return if required.

On paper its way better, in reality... Probably not. I've used AMD cards in the past and as much as I hate to say it, Nvidia is a much better choice. AMD drivers and compatability is an absolute nightmare, it's simply not worth the hassle. About 9 months ago I had what was supposedly one of the fastest cards on the planet (R9 295 x2) it cost about £450 and it was simply useless. No games ran properly because of it running in crossfire, AMD were completely useless with driver support so I ended up selling it and switching to a 980TI.
Since I got the TI everything I've thrown at it plays beautifully, I even popped in another 980ti for 4k gaming, no issues whatsoever even running in SLI. For games that don't support SLI, I simply drop the res down to 1440 and disable SLI until a driver is released with the correct profile.

If you have a decent CPU and at least 8gb RAM this will blow the xbox and playstation out of the water. 30FPS gaming won't be a patch on this card

Apples and Oranges. First you compare a crossfire card to a single card. And then you compare a 980ti to a card £140 cheaper.
A Samsung S6 edge plus is better than an s5 but the price reflects that. A 980ti is better than a Fury X but the price reflects that - except for 4k gaming at which point the Fury X is actually better than the 980ti due to HBM memory.
Nate1492
9 Dec 15#22
The HBM memory isn't the reason why AMD are doing well in 4k Resolution.
Don't get me wrong, HBM is awesome for other reasons. Wider bus, MUCH smaller space, and it's likely the future of Video Card Memory... But check out how the 390x is doing compared to the Fury/Fury X when it moves up to 4k. The cards generally are more suited for 4k.
That's usually why the 970 is so heavily suggested, at 1080p, you don't really need anything more.
WelshJester
9 Dec 152#23
There are actually a few games that will be of good advantage over a 970 at 1080p, Witcher 3 for example, and by running UE4 demos it's not hard to see that you would need a better card if you wanted a solid 60fps or higher.. Generally having a higher end card is never overkill for 1080p, it just helps keep the frame rate up when a lot of stuff is going on.
And while some say these cards are more for 4K, I wouldn't say that is entirely true as even then you'd only be getting 30fps and usually less than that. It will be some years before single cards can handle 4K really well (60+fps) in new games, the main problem is that graphics are always getting better so it's not just the resolution putting more strain on the cards.

9 Dec 15#27
The Fury X is really not great as a 1080p or 1440p card - in many cases, a GTX 980 will beat it. That really limits its versatility compared to the 980 Ti which is much better at those resolutions and effectively on par (with greater OC potential) at 4K. Of course, you can't get one of those for £400...

At 4k GTA V and shadow of mordor can bring framerates crashing down to 6fps due to 4GB ram limit. Likely other games will have the same problem soon

I ordered this the same price the other day. Just dispatched.
With new Crimson drivers this beats a stock 980Ti at all resolutions for a much lower price thanks to the reduced CPU overhead.
And thanks to the closed loop it is almost silent even when running flat out.
I am upgrading from my Nano which although is a great GPU - Does not O/C and does get loud when you push it hard.
Fury X will just about fit in my Lian Li case.
Gonna grab myself the new Club3D d.p to HDMI 2.0 converter releasing at the end of this month too for rrp around £20.
So, smaller, faster and quieter than the competing 980Ti -And better DX12 options.
No brainer really for this price.

Well i haven't kept track of recent pricing but i had my MSI Gaming 980Ti months ago and price wise the Fury x was just as expensive or even more so, i can barely hear the fan on it until it hits 70+% speed so these aftermarket cooled cards are also quiet and quite a bit faster than stock speeds.

No, single AMD GPUs aren't too bad but what happens when you decide it's time for a cheap second card? My 980TIs in SLI haven't given me a single issue, even running in SLI without a profile.

Lol. "I hate to say it" and then you proceed to bash AMD GPUs at whole, based on your experience with what is a ultra enthusiast grade card (i.e. don't buy if you don't like fiddling), all of this in reply to a guy asking if a GPU is better than an xbox.
Funny because I had crossfire 6950s (in between Nvida GPUs btw so I have been on both sides of the pond) and this was before GCN so CFX was nowhere near as good as it is on modern cards. I had 0 problems. The worst that happened was that the second gpu would not do add anything on some games. Everything run properly, no driver crashes, no 'nightmares'. Meanwhile since we are talking empirical evidence, at work we have Nvidia drivers consistently and continuously crashing on 3 different machines after upgrading to windows 10, while people with AMD are having 0 issues.
Meanwhile Nvidia is getting away with murder, 3.5gb + 0.5, Dx12 (and everybody saying that doesn't matter, i wonder how often they swap GPU. Our secondary machine is still gaming absolutely fine with 5 year old 6950s), gameworks and so on. Blindly following brands hurts everybody in the long run.

A few points here I'm confused about.
Worst thing that could happen is that you would have a useless second GPU that didn't add anything to the game? I'd call that a serious effect of CFX. It still happens today. Before, AMD did CAPs, which were separate to drivers, that added profiles. They stopped doing that now so things aren't getting any better.
What's NVIDIA getting away with regarding DX12?
GCN is great. It's lasted, and it keeps older GPU's in the game. There's no denying that.

It was that price when posted. Buying in Euro means the price changes regularly and sterling has weakened a fair bit in the last few days. Do you really expect the price for European Amazon deals to be updated several times per day to the spot rate?
It's still the cheapest in Europe for this card by a long distance so still a bargain
