I'm not sure if this is nationwide, my guess is most stores are selling off their remaining stocks so it might be worth a phone call before you head out just to be sure.
They looked to be about 5 feet tall and had previously been £19.99, reduced to £1.99 and now reduced further to £1.00.
Sorry no receipt (I'm allergic to pine so I didn't buy one) but the photo was taken outside the store entrance, they had at least a dozen left at the Cowdenbeath store.

Why's that then? They're a crop, grown for the purpose. It's not like people are going out into forests slaughtering innocent young trees that would otherwise grow up to be big strong fir trees.
Surely it's better to use a natural plant than some hideous plastic product of the petrochemical industry?

none in my local, went to b&q scoured all their trees and saw one which was packed up ,unwrapped it right there and it was damn beautiful for 5ft tree reduced to £5
I suppose it's not really worth to wait till the last day and hope they drop to £1 as you might have nothing to pick up from.

My Niece has one growing in her garden. Not sure whether it had roots &/or came from a indoor christmas tree. Although they don't I think they should decorate it each year (minus the fake snow).

I've been watching too many crime dramas, first thing I thought of at the mention of a 6 ft long freezer was those huge American style chest freezers, you know the ones they find bodies crammed into on those types of shows :confused:

I wonder, has anyone ever had any success with replanting their trees, my understanding is that if the tree is in reasonable condition and you cover the stump in rooting hormone that in theory you could get it to grow in your own garden...

I am not sure, that's why I suggested calling your local branch to see before you travel if you aren't already heading there for groceries. It's likely that most stores will have at least some reduction in price given the late date

These aren't wild forest trees...they are farmed...it actually helps the environment by using them...Far more are planted each year than are cut down...
whereas your plastic tree...doesn't get much more unfriendly for the environment...suggest you take a trip to your local tip this christmas and take a look at all the old plastic trees people have thrown away as they've found the one they have dragged out of the loft is damaged or broken or just plain fancied a new one...

i agree. Plus a plastic tree can literally last decades, whereas a real one you have to buy every year so its not only bad for the environment, its also a false economy

I can see where the poster is coming from, it does have an impact on the environment. We live near a park and around the first week in January it looks like a Christmas tree graveyard. Don't forget to dispose of them correctly folks, I'm Sure local councils have schemes to help.

I bought one a week or so back at £19.99...quite tightly wrapped in netting so needs a couple of days to rest and let branches settle again but our is one of the nicest trees we've ever had.
