"GARAGES" don't buy hundreds or thousands of these things because the PROFESSIONAL Mechanics all buy their own decent tools with even better warranties. And because someone has done an engine rebuild does not make you a professional. You can probably buy a hair dryer with the word "Professional" on but you wouldn't find one in a hairdressers.

Great tool set, I even had pipe on ratchet couple times (yeah I know...) still works like new. Would not pay full price, but deal price is good to go.

Got the bigger set which used most days working on plant machinery where having mobile tools were a necessity. Only things ever replaced in a 15 year period was ratchet gears and a couple of torx sockets. If both covered then it's happy days, also say why buy snap on or Mac if halfords are lifetime warranty.

Don't think you find any of these in a real life working garage being used by a Professional mechanic.
Ok for the Weekend home mechanic possibly.
And OBVIOUSLY well overpriced to offer such a discount where they will STILL be making a good profit.

The reason you probably wouldn't find these in a garage is because garages buy huge kits with 100's (and in some cases 1000's) of pieces in, and not small sets like this!
I, like someone else in this thread have done a full engine rebuild with Halfords kits. That's about as professional as these are aimed at, and they do their job well.
Every mechanic forum I know of recommends them in the UK, and I post on a few. No hassle exchanges if you manage to break one, and a good price to boot.

Ive used a socket set I got from Halfords for the last 14 years, used more days of the week than not, from everything from general servicing to engine and gearbox builds, car restos, you name it. Ive even used the non-impact sockets with my Ingersoll Rand impact gun. No hassles.

Before anybody makes the comment - moving parts (i.e ratchet mechanisms) are covered by the lifetime warranty now.

Agree - a few years back I needed a ratchet I and had to buy one as Halfords said it wasn't covered. I recently needed a ratchet repairing and they just replaced free of charge.

nothing wrong with these tool kits. iv got the biggest kit and i'll rebuilt my LR discovery engine with it, stripped two engines down and built one out of them, carried out full maintainence with it and nothing goes wrong. i reccomend getting some camphor though (it smells exactly from vicks as thats what gives it its smell) as it evaporates the fumes oil over the tools protecting them from rust... from the accidental repair from side of the road
