Wotwine rates this as only being worth £4, so might not be the £10 quality you were expecting, but still for £3.75, not bad.

I wonder how they decide on the names for these wine? Lock keepers were poor as church mice, not a chance they would ever have drunk wine, let alone had enough to lay some by for reserve, and what would a lock keeper know about the quality of wines back then anyway?
No doubt some young marketing type thought it sounded rustic enough though!

Wine offers are annoying. Whilst 25% off 6 is a deal in itself, you really are not getting half price wine to boot. It's a £5 bottle of wine but that's not to say it's not perfectly palatable.

I thought this wine site sounds good so typed in Apothic as everyone who has tried this wine has enjoyed it, well raved about it actually, but this site gives it a thumbs down so I think I'll be giving this site a miss.

Have a read of this then Apothic is £4.92 in California where it is produced. I had never heard of it before you mentioned it. It sounds like a right mishmash of any available grape :man:

this isn't just £22.50 this is a M&S £22.50 what they claim they are worth and what they are actually worth is two completely different things!

Or if you've 2 Amex cards and shop small then you can get 4 bottles of wine for £10.

9 Dec 15#33
Surely not. As you have to buy in one transaction to get the discount
£5 on your statement for every £10 spent in "small shops".
siadwel
10 Dec 15#40
So if it's £4.92 in California, where it's produced, then I guess it should be dearer in this country. Such a pity that your ignorance will make you miss out on this but you did make me laugh so thank you for that. I'd suggest that you don't go near any half decent CdP's, they can use up to 6 different grapes  Cheers.
biggysilly
10 Dec 15#41
Ignorant back to you cdp can have up to 13 or 18 varieties not up to 6, numpty. If you are going to troll and call me names get your trolling facts right. Welcome to my ignored list :man:
siadwel
10 Dec 15#42
Lol, I didn't call you any names, I just said that it's a pity that your ignorance will mean you miss out on this wine. As for CdP you can't have up to 13 OR 18 it's one or the other NOT both. 18 by the way  but you're not going to find 18 in one bottle. I said a half decent CdP will have "UP TO SIX". Anyone who knows anything about wine will know that they won't actually use all 18 varieties for a wine. I guess that's where we differ.

What it reads to me is that it isn't a true double discount, so the half price, £10 reduced to £5 is not a
true reduction, as the wine is only really worth around £5, but that you do get a true discount in that there is 25% off when buying 6 bottles. that is to say you are not getting £60.00 worth of wine for £22.50, but £30.00 worth for £22.50
Hope that helps
