if you want something descreet and compact with quality id go for something like the Panasonic HX-A1 or Drift Ghost.

I had the session and the battery life was awful. Would struggle to get an hour out of it with wifi on, using my phone as a view finder, Just shy of two hours without wifi on. I plugged a pebble 1800mh recharger in it and this kept it going for around three hours, I think the pebble drip charged rather than used itself as a portable battery pack. Picture quality better than my hero 2 but I sent the session back as out of the box the battery makes it almost unusable and is a major flaw, and have gone for the 3 plus silver which is classed as prosumer rather than the session consumer, and 4 black professional

This is the price this camera should have always been. It doesn't have the sharpness of other GoPro cameras. The Polaroid cube plus is still cheaper, and with 'better' video quality.

the lack of changeable battery is the biggest killer for me on this camera. love the size and format and its a good price though

Depends what you want, you would need to research based on your personal requirements because the price point is pretty close.
For me the additional battery pack (and fact you can remove and swap the normal batteries) plus the fact you can add an LCD to the 3+ if you want swung it to the Hero 3+ for me. However I am not too bothered by the size or (relative) complexity of the 3+ but you might be.
