A man was driving down the motorway when he was suddenly overtaken by a very fast 3 -legged chicken. The man can't believe his eyes! He speeds up to catch up with the chicken, but the chicken speeds up even more! The man speeds up and follows the chicken as he takes the slip road, leaves the motorway & goes down a country lane, still at a fast speed. Eventually, the man sees the chicken turn into a farmyard, so he pulls in too and goes in search of the farmer. He askes the farmer about the strange 3-legged chicken he has just followed, and the farmer tells him that he breeds 3-legged chickens - he and his family all like roast chicken. He likes a leg, his wife likes a leg & his son likes a leg. So the answer is to have 3-legged chickens. 'Ah', says the man, that explains it. Do they taste good?'
The farmer replied, ' I don't know, we haven't caught one yet.

most of LIDL's meat has the red tractor symbol which means it is traceable and the animals have been kept in good conditions. I'd rather buy from LIDL or ALDI and know that its not horse I'm eating. They build good relationships with British farmers and buy locally, thus the meat is fresher and in my opinion safer. The meat we buy is packaged in Glasgow, where we buy it, therefore it hasnt gone half way round the world before hitting the shelves of the local supermarket. For most its just brand snobbery not shopping in LIDL or ALDI, but long may it continue so theres plenty left for me  Personally I don't trust Tesco or Asda, as Asda is Walmart and they are a shocking company, so unethical and treat their US staff like s**t and Tesco sell meat from anywhere

Got the maximum of 6 today, at £1.25 per pack, but they seem to have lots of extra skin. I find Lidl's meat is fresher than other supermarkets.

I find, like Aldi, that as the store and storage area is smaller than most supermarkets, their turnover of stock is greater and their meat and fruit/veg appears fresher.

A quarter of all chicken eaten in this country is imported.
Still though British chickens aren't kept well, they never see the light of day and the light they do receive simulates a day but actually shortens the day to 16 hrs. This helps them grow quicker
That 16hrs would be lessened if they could but only for the RSPCA I think
Having their beaks lasered off so they don't damage one another isn't cruel enough I
suppose.
Chickens aren't kept in 'battery cages' as they once were which offered around 500 cm2 of space. The new cages have 600
Cm2 of space and house around 80 birds. So not much of a difference really but keep justifying buying this ****

It's a special offer so the price the supplier is paid remains the same.
Also that picture showing illegally kept chickens isn't from this country is it?

quit scaremongering, such cages are illegal in the UK, pretty much all table birds are raised in 'barns' now.

Yes but I don't think that's particularly feasible with meat, especially free stock.
Lidl do these types of offers every weekend on a large variety of products so I suspect Lidl just takes a hit in order to increase footfall. Plus I think it's more profitable to sell parts of a chicken instead of a whole one.

The special offers are often funded by suppliers in some way either with free stock or a rebate on normal cost

Don't be silly, everyone knows the price you pay on the day directly reflects how that chicken was treated previously. If you buy it from the reduced section it means the poor thing was beaten twice daily with a **** stick and made to listen to justin bieber.

Why did the two chickens cross the road? To get their Carcasses decimated and sold for less than 30p a leg. Every lidl helps.
