Fancy a little break to La Rochelle? Never heard of it? Well, neither had I until I realised you can visit Fort Boyard, yes I confess along with Crystal Maze this was one of my favourite shows as a kid.
La Rochelle actually looks lovely, with a little harbour, the towers and of course you can also do a cruise to see the old fort, although not go in as it is privately owned. The town is lively and a great place for a couple of days.
For a few pence over £50pp for a two night stay including flights you can't go wrong!!
*Breakdown*
Flights £39.98 for 2
Hotel Les Gens De Mer La Rochelle £60.65 for 2 nights/2 people @ www.venere.com using 12% discount code.
Just £50.31pp

Never heard of La Rochelle! Damn, I thought everybody who had studied French at school would've heard of La Rochelle, made infamous by the Tricalore text book. Must resist booking this just so I can visit the home of my most hated school subject..... must resist.

I did 3 weeks in La Rochelle on the French exchange. It was great. Everyone, including dogs and cats, wore white trainers over there.

If you're going to La Rochelle I would recommend you pick up a copy of Tricolore before you go then. It can act as a Travel guide and teach you French all in one. You'll know how to ask for directions to the swimming pool, the school and police station by the time you arrive. Not Fort Boyard though.
In my excitement of seeing the magic words of La Rochelle I forgot to give you heat. Taking me back to my childhood is worthy of some as well.

We are going from Stanstead despite being in the NW as we wanted to visit Sardina and that's the only airline that goes there cheaply. You can get a train direct from Birmingham if that helps.....
