you can get Duracell Industrial (was Procell) for around 24p a battery if buying in bulk, no difference from the retail packs ebay 181763855200

but buying rechargeables will work out even cheaper

How has this deal got positive ? People have obviously been taken in by the expensive marketing hype that is added to the price of these average performance batteries. I have also found Duracells one of the worst for leakage.

IKEA batteries are very good (see graphs above) and are an amazing price: packs of 10 for a little over a quid.. Must be best value out there.

More so considering they aren't even cheap!

Whilst duracell are bad for leakage, last time I had a leakage, I had some success with calling them. One AA battery leaked (but didn't do any damage), called P&G and they sent me a £5 Duracell voucher. I also know of a good friend who called them when a battery leaked into children's toy, ruining it. P&G replaced the toy with no hassle. Not sure if other companies would do the same?

With all the various electronic items requiring batteries, rechargeable batteries are the way to go. Yes, they may cost £10 for a pack of 4 (depending where you buy) but in the long term they are way cheaper than buying all those alkaline equivalents.

The Duracell Ultra Power is the worst value for money alkaline battery we tested.

The Poundland Duracell (genuine Duracell) performed poorly (they are sold in twin packs for £1), and you would be better off with the Kodak Xtralife that Poundland also sell in 6 packs.
