first post, 2nd attempt. prob for the people who have done the research.
Got the phone last week from same seller. received 10 days after despatch.

Not true. Just because you haven't probably bought anything from them in the past, doesn't mean that you can talk crap like that. Whenever I haven't received anything within the estimated period of time they were always more than happy to arrange a refund, and even automatically without moving any of my fingers.
How can anyone get to so many failed orders before giving up? Sounds like nonsense. I've bought over 30 items and not had one problem. Put the shovel down pal.

Mainly because most of these orders were placed on four-five occasions from various 'retailers' without awaiting the outcome of other orders. You might have a different experience but don't assume others' are not an accurate account of their own. In general I've found the orders to be poor quality and prone to issues either at the outset or sometime early on in their use. Like it or lump it, that's how it was; it would be a strange thing for me to make-up and write about. Glad you have found it better, just go careful there.

Why would i be working for Aliexpress while living in the North East of England ? are you one of those silly retarded mongs who bought a $5 Iphone from China and thought they were getting a real one or just a silly bigoted closet racist ?
Funnily enough you can buy everything from Apple to Samsung to Sony and your money is protected in exactly the same way as Ebay and Paypal , you can easily claim a refund if needed or you could use your Credit Card and use the chargeback.
But lets ignore the truth and facts and sink to being little bigots like you.

Your a moron.
Used Aliexpress for years without any hitch , the phone in this deal arrived today perfectly bubblewrapped in tough plastic and the standard Xiaomi cardboard box , everything sealed exactly as it should be , everything works exactly as it should do.
Yes there are scammers but they are slowly being removed, there are more scammers on Ebay and ive been ripped off by more of my greedy **** fellow Brits than any scary Chinese website..... but as with Ebay your money is protected, now the real problem is Royal Mail, they are a bloody joke.

this is good info but the 02/giffgaff/tesco not offering 4g support on the phone may change the chip in the phone supports it just needs unlocking which can only happen once someone figures it out and the other way is o2 is being purchased by 3 so you would expect a network merge.
For the price the phone is fantastic a few things let it down
camera is not great
no gorilla glass
plastic back is weak
two of those can sort of be corrected with glass screen protecter and you just get a case for the phone to go in for a replacement back.

The Note3 has just been unveiled at a tech show in China, but the specs are actually slightly WORSE than the Note2, it just has a few more gimmicks like a fingerprint scanner - basically it has gone all Apple.
This means the prices on the Note 2 MAY drop slightly.
For the record I own a Note 1 3G, because I use GiffGaff, and the 4G versions dont support 800MHz, the main channel used by GG, this is true of the 2 and the new 3; so they will work on EE, 3, etc, but not on O2 or GG.
The Xiaomis are great phones, well made and well supported, I get weekly UI updates as part of the BETA program, and there are loads of custom ROM options, including one for Android v6.

Ali Express is a bit like Ebay used to be, lots of sellers, some good, some bad, some selling nothing but fakes. If you stick to the higher rated sellers you will USUALLY be OK, although I did have one batch of dodgy SD cards from a Two Crown rated seller.
If your item isnt available from someone sporting a Crown, look at the rest, look at the comments left, the quantities sold and the feedback history, some good sellers suddenly turn bad (change of owner??) and this is reflected in lots of recent poor rating after years of good ones.
If a number of people are selling at well below the price of everyone else, it is probably a fake, look closely at the description, and dont click to confirm your order has arrived until you are 100% certain it is genuine.
i have placed hundreds of orders with AliE over the last 4-5 years, the majority have been perfectly fine, and of the ones that havent, I have been refunded in all but two cases.
IN CONTRAST
I have ordered ONCE from Amazon.com (the US site); a £250 Nakamichi ICE unit.
I received three sheets of sanding paper........

You want to download the "Global" Rom (your was supplied with the "Chinese ROM" and install it, if you have the Xiaomi MIUI program installed on a WinPC it is very easy, download the ROM from the MIUI forum link, plug the phone in, select update and pick the location of the ROM.
If you dont, go visit the MIUI forums, there are plenty of guides on how to download the ROM and install it directly on the phone. I have done it both ways, but I have a Note 3G, which is slightly different.
For the nay sayers, £94 is the official price of the phone, so one at this price on AliExpress doesnt mean it is fake; there ARE fake phones out there (I have a fake Lenovo right here), but Xiaomi have an app that you can use to check if your phone is legit. If it isnt, just report it as a fake using the "Dispute" button on Ali Express. DONT go and push the "Confirm" button until you are sure it is real.
all the items from alliexspress is fake, dont be fooled to buy from them.

This particular phone doesn't support 800mhz 4G - so won't work on o2. It'll work fine on Three and EE; and be somewhat ok on Vodafone.
There is no such thing as "EU Android" and rooting isn't at all relevant to this discussion. There is one version of Android which manufacturers customise as appropriate for the markets they sell their phones to.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is officially only sold in China, therefore Xiaomi don't produce a version of the software for other markets (although this is rumoured to change with an updated version of this phone due out soon). Third parties have however taken up that challenge, and produced an EU ROM for the phone.
I had the 'Prime' (faster) version of the phone delivered a week ago. I wasn't happy with the ROM that shipped, so I flashed it with the latest unofficial EU ROM - and everything has been great.
I would only recommend these phones if you're comfortable with getting your hands a bit dirty. Otherwise, you'd be best going into carphonewarehouse where you'll need to pay quite a bit more to get the same level of performance.

What about their Android is it standard EU android, e.g no need for rooting ....
I had Huawei and it works excellent, matching my other Japanese Korean Smart phones ... ....
However, I also had a chinese phone ZTE bought from chinese vendor and it presented more problem than solution Not to mentiion time to waste everytime you get the problem, so I consider it, it is not worthy at all if you include your time into equation .... .
Due to this I am emtremely careful to buy chinese phone especially from chinese vendors nowadays ....

Most of these phones comes with Chinese ROM. So it contains lot of viruses which could not removed easily. My friend bought Lenovo K3 Note . It came with Chinese modified version of Android. Antivirus detected some virus on search which could not be removed. Lot of Advertisements keeps on popping up automatically. There is no option to update the OS too. They have modified everything.
When I spoke to Lenovo , they said they wont support phones at UK.
majhaar to mcseguy
18 Nov 15#82
K3 note is a nice phone (typing on it now) but only any good if you flash with a normal RofW ( but really for India) ROM or custom ROM. The RofW 5.0 ROM is a bit laggy. The 5.1 custom ROMs are all missing useful bits as standard such as notification led and tap-to-wake.

All that's needed is simple common sense. Don't pick sellers who have only ever sold once or twice or have a bad rating. Same applies to ebay but you will always get people buying from the wrong sellers and then crying about it afterwards on the internet. It's why ebay and aliexpress are rated so low.

xiaomi. EU is nothing to do with xiaomi. If you go to the site, at the top of the page is the word 'unofficial'. That should be a bit of a give away.
That's from Xiaomi.eu. So, it's either official or someone is cybersquatting Xiaomi's site.As a $12bn company, I'm not sure they'd allow cybersquatting.

Also if anyone wants a decent cover/leather pouch these guys make a perfectly snug one for this phone.
However please do not order the version linked in this deal as it appears to be the TDD variant not the FDD version.. The TDD is not compatible with the 4G in the UK you need the FDD one...

Erm, it's not wrong. I'm talking about official roms from miui.com, not unofficial custom roms. What you have is a phone that had stuff removed a d playstore added before despatch. It's all available to see if you do a quick search.

Few questions you lovely people:
1) Does this have NFC?
2) How is the Wi Fi on this compared to the MI3
3) Battery life? Can you soldier on for more than say 2 days with standard use?
4) Any problems 4G wise?

1. no NFC
2. decent wifi don't know mi3 so can't compare
3. lucky to get 1 day.
4. no band 20, its CPU does support all LTE frequency but no available on this handset. that means bye bye O2 and Vodafone 4G.

You can research the spec of any Chinese branded phone here >
Well I have used Ali express and my experience was very poor. I am baffled by people who seem to take offence on their behalf. A quick Google on reviews will reveal what a poor service they offer. Most of the positive reviews are fakes written in very poor English. Each their own though.....

This is just incorrect. I am running MIUI 7 English Rom, pre-installed. It's the official English ROM. Smooth, eye-pleasing and completely chinese and bloatware free.

Hi, I have this phone, over all a good phone.
But the problem is that the available ram is very low (keeping in mind that it's 2GB). Also, there is a pathetic problem of getting adds on the home screen. I am using the ROM it came with and haven't rooted, can someone please advise how to root and which ROM to use , ( I prefer a pure andriod experience rather then IOS or MIUI ) ?
Due to the low availability of the RAM , it lags and hangs sometime.
then choose which rom to use. I prefer the xiaomi.eu rom, miui with no ads. weekly build is best. there are also some other roms on xda forums, more vanilla Android.
you flash the rom by selecting the file when in twrp recovery.
pretty easy.

I'm running the global build of Miui7. It updated from Miui6 last week OTA. There is no Chinese text anywhere on my home screen or in any of the menus. The only Chinese I have seen is when the Xiaomi email app wanted access to my Gmail account. I was only messing around though as I use the official Gmail app that was pre installed anyway, with it being the global rom.

12 Nov 15#34
Are you running the global rom? everything i have read says that the "english" language choice is riddled with random chinese text....
badboyofrock
12 Nov 15#33
Absolute cack. Official global rom on the Miui website now. Download and flash using the in built software or use the Mi Pc suite on a Windows Pc. Hello Google services, goodbye Chinese apps.
This is an unofficial MIUI 7 multi language ROM. Xiaomi will not be releasing an official ROM with full English translation as this handset was never intended for the UK market. The above link is as good as it gets. Once installed the phone runs like a dream. Your current ROM is likely full of dodgy spyware anyway!

WARNING. This is the TDD version, which does not support UK's 4G frequencies out of the box.
The seller claims that by installing a custom ROM, they've managed to unlock UK's 4G frequencies. Even if that were true, updating the phone may revert it back to stock and result in the phone being locked to China's 4G frequencies. You might want to consider if the extra trouble is worth $20 over Xiaomi's official international 4G version.

I've just got this phone, arrived all in Chinese! actually took it to a Chinese restaurant so could get it in English..... still has lots of Chinese stuff on there,is there anything I can download that would clear this problem up or make the phone better?
That is true in my experience. I started ordering reasonably frequently from Aliexpress but the problems seemed more frequent than the orders. Quite often the sellers don't check out correctly and the listed picture of factories and workers and just library pictures of a created store front. There may be protection but the sellers have found ways around the system and any arbitration that takes place is painfully slow even for the most open and shut cases. I've found myself with fake items, poor quality items and incorrect orders that were so awkward to put right it just was not worth the bother. Of around 50 orders, about 20 were fine. For me 30/50 is an amazing rate of issues so I stopped using them altogether.

LOL, Nice Reply, do you work for them? theu just sell Sh1TT
What is yours running?

For the price the phone is fantastic a few things let it down
camera is not great
no gorilla glass
plastic back is weak
two of those can sort of be corrected with glass screen protecter and you just get a case for the phone to go in for a replacement back.

Redmi Note 3.
Did the order mention a 2 day delivery time. I would like to buy one, but I have to have it before the end of this week. Can you please let me know once it is delivered.
Why I am asking is because I got a response from them saying that they don't have it in stock at the EU warehouse.
Thanks,
3GB ram always good, then really competes with flag ships
Fingerprint meh, never liked those things.
Cool ta
Why wait from China. This is a better deal, you get 32GB Advanced Edition with an extra £20 delivered within 2 days.
Is it fully compatible with UK/EU LTE frequency ?
thanks
As for the phone, I think the description sets off enough warning bells to scare me away. Proceed at your own peril. It sounds a bit like an "upgraded" memory card. The phone is ok, the seller not so much.
You can buy extra batteries and power adaption.
Rom's updates all the time it seems from unofficial and official (slower)
Camera's alright poor in low light.
Seems to perform amazing, you need to look at some of the reviews the 'prime' which I have can keep up with some of the flag ships on most things. If it had 3gb of memory I think it would perform as well. For a fraction of the price i'm very impressed.
I wanted it for the speed and big screen aswell so I'm glad you posted, thanks.
Tech spec
Would go with the prime if you're looking for better.
Seems similarly speced as the normal note 2.
Bought one for my son for christmas from gearbest last week
I cannot get my rig Windows 10 to install the drivers have tried everything
I cannot update the firmware, i just keep getting the 'driver signature verification' message
Its a great phone once i figure out how to fix the issues above
Works the same for Win 10; I had to do this to change the ROM on my wife's Vibe Shot which also uses a Snapdragon chip.
Thanks for any help guys.
twrp goes on through mi updater(built in update) and you can flash a weekly release through that if needed.
When I spoke to Lenovo , they said they wont support phones at UK.
Tempted to get this redmi note 2 just to compare. Doogee phones don't seem to allow for dual sim AND micro SD at the same time which I need.
