The £50 is for the privilege of being able to fix it (see my RaspPi0 deal for a cheaper fix(_;)). I wrote this phone off when it appeared double the price of the Chinese ones. Sure enough they depreciated the same.

Howdy folks, was looking for some sage mobile phone advice. My iPhone 4s is on its last leg and I'm loathe to spend a fortune on another apple product that might give up the ghost after a couple of years. An old dear at my work has offered me a HUAWEI ASCEND P6 for £60. It's been well looked after and is great condition. The main thing I use my phone for (other than as a phone) is for listening to music and podcasts and maybe occasionally as a sat nav. Never play games or mess around with apps. Would the HUAWEI be a good deal or would this wileyfox be better? Opinions please. Cheers peeps!

They don't answer emails for customer support as I mailed them 3 times and eventually got a reply with 2 lines a week after the third email, others have said same thing. They told some guy on Facebook " to suck it up "when he had a problem with his phone although heard they've removed it now.

Picked up 2. Got one for a Christmas present and just went and got myself one as well after watching some YouTube reviews. Hot!
Because you won't find anything from a UK retailer with similar specs for less money. Nothing to do with it being "on offer". The Vodafone Ultra 6 is the only competitor at this price really, but that needs unlocking for most people, and the camera isn't as good.
You'll struggle to find many people who would prefer to pay £86 for a Chinese phone from a relatively unknown website, rather than £99 for a phone from Amazon that is very well reviewed.
And by the way, I say that as someone currently using an Elephone bought from Gearbest.

no, I don't think I do
I have compared £86 (after tax with month waiting) with £99 available today.
There is also £52 (sub £70 after tax) X5 Pro (with month waiting) but with mediocre camera (5Mp).
I think, I do compare final possible prices (if unlucky).
You say £99 is excellent price? Is it because it is a good handset, or because it is "on offer"?
user777
26 Nov 15#95
I am on the market for dual SIM 4G 5" under £100 supporting all 4g UK bands.
I think that Willeyfox is a decent proposition but I do not like the price - IMHO £70ish would be just about right.
Cheaper alternatives can be bought from the likes of Gearbest but they usually do not have anything in stock in EU warehouse and shipping from China can attract import fees (roughly £13) and waiting time is a killer.
Doogee Y100 would be quite similar (2/16 MB, 13Mp camera) - it was on offer for £56 from EU (but very limited stock) and now it is £73 from China (which after import fees, if you are unlucky, could be £86 with long waiting for delivery - sellers on eBay already quote January...).
Then you cannot fault Amazon when it comes to refund... which is a big pro for Willey. Still £99 is not a good price IMHO.
On another issue: why do people care so much for future proof (will that work with new system, etc?)??? Lifespan of todays handsets is 1 year, 2 years top. Just buy what you like and can afford. It will be replaced sooner than later.
dean_brfc to user777

Cheaper alternatives can be bought from the likes of Gearbest but they usually do not have anything in stock in EU warehouse and shipping from China can attract import fees (roughly £13) and waiting time is a killer.

"You can root your phone if you wish (it is possible) , however it will make the warranty void (for software related issues ). If you purchase the screen replacement service (will be available later this year) and your screen is broken we can still replace that."
