Not the best deal there has ever been, but the best price that I could find at the moment with a decent game included.
Actually, considering that it comes with a £35 game and another £10 freebie, it's not far off the best deal ever :-)

I gave up waiting and bought at Smyths. SSB is a pretty decent game to have after all. It hurt a bit after getting a basic pack for £140 a couple of months ago.

Me too - not holding my breath though! I thought they would be getting rid of dead wood, but they are keeping the prices high! Would like to have seen smythstoys at £150. Damn good deals on PS4 and XBONE though.

About the storage, it was just bad marketing from Ninty. They realised everyone has a HDD at home and you can buy them cheap. To keep prices down they expected everyone to plug in an external HDD of their own. That's also why it comes with plenty of USB ports. HDD are cheap as chips now so save yourself a few quid (to spend on games) buy the 8gb version and plug in an external hdd which you will anyway on the 32gb version.

I think the way most high street stores handle sales, especially black Friday is leaving a lot to be desired. as long as they get their money they don't care if people fight and innocent people are hurt as long as the emergency services deal with it and pick up the bill.

So I can just use a normal USB hard drive that doesn't need its own power supply? Does it have to be uSB 3.0?
I prefer SD Cards. SAMSUNG brands seem to be very reliable also phones use card based storage dont see them coming into problems.

Nintendo's recommendation is a USB hard drive that DOES have its own power supply, although people have used drives that don't (usually with a Y-cable to get more power). It does not have to be USB 3.0.

The way phones use external storage and the way game consoles use external storage are different. Basically, there's greater strain on the card if used with a game console versus being used in a phone. This is not to say you won't be able to successfully use an SD card instead of a USB drive or HDD for your storage purposes. Just that the risk of your SD card getting 'over used' is higher. I'm sure someone else can explain the implications better than me so that you can make an informed decision.

I'll just stick to SD Card by SAMSUNG. Never had issues with SD cards which I used for years on a daily basis.

2TB is the maximum but nobody will ever come close to reaching that limit.
You can very easily upgrade the Basic model with a USB drive. SD cards are possible as well but are not recommended for use. Neither are USB drives but at least they have higher number of uses in terms of data transfer. SD cards aren't designed for constant data transfer every day over a sustained period of time.
I've expanded my 32GB Wii U with another 32GB USB drive and have about 10 retail downloads and dozens of indies, and VC games, as well as several apps. All totalling to about 60GB, leaving another 4GB for use.
How much space you need ultimately depends on how many games you're going to purchase the digital versions for. If it's only a handful, you likely don't even need to expand your storage yet. The Wii U has space for dozens (probably more than a hundred) disc-based games to install save and game data. Bear in mind that game and save data averages around 40MB per game. 1GB has 1,024MB so.....

Yes, for less than a tenner, you can upgrade the basic to the premium level. Nintendo don't recommend USB flash drives but plenty of people use them. The Nintendo recommended solution is a USB hard drive that has its own power supply.

I like the box, but 32gb should have been the basic model and 500gb standard. I have the basic, it was well cheaper than this (with Smash, but normal console box), and the external hard drive isn't an issue at all other than making sure I got the right cable for it. So this really isn't an amazing deal - anyone who doesn't have a Wii U who wants one should definitely wait for Black Friday.

To be fair all the TV's etc asda had were being sold at a loss in the hope customers will spend more on shopping. Didn't work, and had bad press with all the fighting instore.

It's not a good deal.
Basic model has only 8GB storage which is un-acceptable.so you will have to use some sort of extra storage..akward and inconvenient.
It doesn't have all the accessories of premium pack like the all important charging stand for controller and also the console stand..they are not available in white officially as far as I know to buy seperately.
also it's white and unlike say white PS4,this one looks cheapish and childish compared to the black one...also mismatch among other av systems under tv.
More importantly..this price would be a decent deal for premium model.not for the discontinued basic model that no one wants.
so definitely cold from me.

You mean, storage size because memory is entirely different.
For someone who perhaps doesn't download a lot it may be sufficient but if you download DLC, title updates, firmwares, games and demos then it'll easily go over the limit. Project Zero Trial Version almost occupied the last couple gigabytes left on my Wii U 32GB storage. I've deleted it since I got the physical copy.

My daughter has a couple of games on disk and a couple of downloads and all the latest updates. One of the disk games is Splatoon, which is update heavy. She has 1.1GB left. So it's not huge, but fine for someone who only wants to play a couple of games. If it does fill up, that USB storage you mentioned will be about £8 to bring it above the level of the Premium console.

I have the 8gb basic, it's totally fine for memory size I've even got a couple of old Mario games installed as well on the harddrive. If I'd bought the 32gb it wouldn't of been enough for all my games anyway so if you go digital you will still need a harddrive but just after a couple extra games.
