Missed out on this when it was £100 via Vodafone, but seemed a decent price to me.

Got mine when it was £99. Bought unlock code & PU leather case from eBay for £2.99 and £1.99 respectively. Got a FreedomPop SIM which for a one-off payment of £6.99 should give me 200 free minutes per month forever (or until they go bust like OVIVO!). So for just under £111, my mobile needs are sorted for a couple of years!

Silly question - it is obviously not as good as it is not horrendously expensive and you will not be allowed in the private huddle of iPhone users at work / school etc. because you chose to be different.

Quite like mine despite the mess that is android, as long as you don't install apps and services to the SD card lag should be minimal. Shame there's no gyroscope for google cardboard as the screen size and res is well suited. Also while it might look far more premium from a distance, in the hand it feels cheap. That being said, you won't find a better phone running android for under £150, and spec wise puts some £200 handsets to shame. Makes the 3rd gen moto g look the overpriced underspecced phone it is. Camera is pretty decent, its no lumia 1020 but for those like me upgrading from a moto g its a massive improvement. Its also been rock stable, perfprmance excellent and the obly phone ive ever had that really can last a whole day of heavy use. Unlock really easily for about £3.50. Now, if Microsoft could release a phone with this spec and price, they might get a decent slice of market share.

lovely phone, but mine has a crack on screen now, not even the corner shops are willing to change it.
make sure you don't brake it, as seems too expensive for a disposable phone still.

i'm on my second now, the first one kept on restarting every time you ever so slightly stressed it. This one is almost the same.
if it wasnt for the software, this phone would be perfect.

Mine also kept randomly restarting also lines at the top of the screen. Had to get a refund via the credit card company as Vodafone are a waste of space and did not pick up the faulty phone.

Nice phone. bought one for the wife. Only found one thing a bit annoying. When setting alarm to wake up in the morning if you mute sounds so you won't here any alerts i.e. emails you don't get alarm sounds either. I have a S5 and the alarm still sounds when I mute?
aszu to Disco Dave
27 Oct 151#21
This is a Lollipop 'feature' - since Android 5.0 mute option actually mutes the phone completely (no alarms or anything else).
The solution is that instead of muting it, set it to 'priority notifications only' ('star-like' icon) - this will have the same effect as mute in older version of Android - only certain predefined apps (like Alarms) will be allowed to use the speaker in this mode (you can also customize this apps list)

I've ummed and ahhhed about one of these for the OH, but I'm pretty certain she would break it inside of a month. She's got a second gen moto g at the moment and it's taken the drops and bumps pretty well. Main reason for upgrade is for a good camera as she's noticed the difference between my photos from a LG G2 and her moto g 2nd gen.

I'm trying to make the same decision. Ordered the SU6 and then saw the code for UMI Iron and ordered one. Both arrive tomorrow. Which box gets opened and which box goes back!?!
I get impression that Iron is nicer design, has extra 1GB ram and slightly faster CPU. While the SU6 is a safer option. Also Iron does not support all bands. I 'think' I'm okay as I'm on Three. Other difference is the off screen buttons on the SU6, which I prefer.
I think I'm leaning towards the iron with the security of it being fulfilled by Amazon.
What network are you on? Have you found any other significant differences?

I am on Virgin so 4G doesn't affect me really. I have a Mifi which has an EE 4G card in their 100GB free offer thingy so speed is not an issue. Have gone and plumped for the Iron from Amazon as peace of mind if it's not the right choice can return.
Like you get the impression the Iron would be better choice if it works as described, but its an IF that amazon returns makes me secure in gambling on!!!

A sim (standard, mini or micro) cannot be cut down to nano - nano is a fraction thinner than the others - best to get a proper nano from your network.

okay just a couple of things before buying this phone ( I have it ) first this is still running on lollipop 5.0.2 not 5.1.. two it gets hot when charging.. the camera ain't really good either ( another thing since I bought this phone the earphone isn't working so I plugged my lg g2 earphone they got volume and stop button which works with lg g2 when watching YouTube or any other videos ( but it doesn't work on this phone in YouTube only one of the button lits the bar ( which is suppose to stop ) but it doesnt on this phone at all... right and last thing sometimes the name of network service on top left disappears for a sec or two then comes back ( maybe its glitch ) anyways other then that its good price

You can cut it to proper size using special tool Your text here
jnm21
28 Oct 15#65
NO YOU CAN'T - I have one of those 'special tools', but you risk damaging the phone if you try - yes, it may work, but it may also rip out the sim reader pins. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=nano+sim+thickness

Haha, same. I just say it's the ZTE Smart Ultra 6!
I usually hate the S-Style cases you get for phones, but have to say that the clear one for this, which is also part frosted looks really really good and it also adds a tiny bit of weight which actually makes it 'Feel' more premium. £1.30 delivered on eBay. I also have the Orzly which is a great case but is a mil bigger than it should be so is a little loose. The S-style fits to perfection and also adds good cushioning to the phone.

damadgeruk
29 Oct 15#68
Yes, you can. I'm not going to recommend it though I have done it, as have others.
jnm21
29 Oct 15#69
No you can't - you can cut it down to the size in length & width, but unless you have a planer, you can't do the depth - argue all you want - I'll keep telling others the truth - it is physically impossible to do with the special tool that people mis-describe just to sell.
damadgeruk
29 Oct 15#70
Oh yes you can, I've done it, no, I didn't reduce the thickness and yes, my phone worked and still does. Again, I'm not recommending you try it though again, it worked for me and others, regardless of what jnm21 would like us believe.
jnm21
29 Oct 15#71
I don't care what you believe (I think you are actually fully aware of the facts), I just want you to stop misleading others. Using a cut down mini or micro sim will invalidate your warranty (if Vodafone realise - which they will if it jams/wrecks the pins).
damadgeruk
29 Oct 151#72
You are correct, I am fully aware of the fact that my SU6 works perfectly with a cut down full thickness SIM. Again, I don't recommend you do this. Remind me, how am I misleading others?
