Just picked mine up, using Fast Track. Seems pretty good and not as laggy as I thought unless I task it with something like Google Maps.
Anyone know where to get it unlocked?

Check the XDA forums. There may be some help available there.

Is it locked to network or you can use after all in other?

Still remains THE best mid-range smartphone. Highly respected in it's class. You obviously have high standards when it comes to phones to be unimpressed with the SP. Anyway, that aside (personal preferences and all!) - yes it is a custom ROM made by the Cyanogenmod team. Custom ROMs are amazing and improve the experience even further. Plenty out there for the Nexus 6 when you get bored of it! All the best. All is good - not having a massive go! Peace

No. I said it was good enough to serve me while my Nexus 6 was away for repair. It was usable to me, but if someone is coming to it for a first time smartphone, or as a spare while theirs is away, they will find it a lot more enjoyable than I did as I have one of the best Android phones out there. If you don't know better, the experience will obviously be better.
That said, it probably is a good idea to ditch the Xperia SP you have for something better. I remember having a play with one when they first came in and was very unimpressed. Even when they were put on clearance at 59.99 it was a struggle to get rid of them. As for Marshmallow that must be a custom ROM as I seem to remember update support being cut almost straight after release, and not even making it to KitKat officially.

Idk what the critical people on this thread think they deserve for this price but it'll do as a satnav (Nokia Here) or an MP3 player for a touch over £20 - heated

For that purpose, would pay £8 more and get the Lumia 435 from Carphone Warehouse

Really? I found this rather laughable. So, I should give up my Xperia SP running Marshmallow, just to have an "even better experience" with a Vodafone 6 - according to Professor Stu?

It already has that preinstalled. You can just go into the app switcher and swipe most apps closed, and then the button at the bottom takes you into a proper task killer where you can also clean out the RAM too.

£1 off when spend £25 on the collection thing. Added 3 rolls of xmas wrap for effectively £2 with this.
Does anyone know if you can delete the Fb and Twitter preloaded apps?

You can uninstall Twitter, and disable Facebook (And all the Vodafone apps can be uninstalled too)

I'm creating an Android game. Bought a cheap android phone to make sure it would work on less powerful hardware (I have a LG G3) - game works great. Playing around with the phone is ok, a little sluggish when moving from screen to screen but completely usable. Perfect for those that just want to chat via whatsapp, check your Facebook and go on YouTube.

Can you not just put a Taskkiller on it to two-tap and close all running apps? Lose a few seconds here and there, isn't a life changer?

Is this a good device for doing rooting and mucking around? I have wanted to muck around with Android without damaging my tab for a while. Can someone confirm this has WiFi as I won't be using it for calling texting etc

Yeah, it'll have WiFi.

Yes, it has WiFi but you'll be disappointed when it comes to playing with this phone. I think its possible to root it, but beyond that its not like theres custom ROMs and other things you can mess around with on this model. Theres little to no development interest with it.

The Alcatel Pixi 3 (4 inch model) is available for £19.99 at Argos. It's exactly the same but has a front facing camera and LED flash, so better!

Sadly not. Its only the 3G model of the Pixi 3 they sell at Argos, which is actually worse than the Smart First 6 (Also only 3G btw). Battery life is worse and the touchscreen has some serious responsiveness issues. Especially noticeable if you have come from a phone with a glass screen.
The 4G variant of the pixi has a fairly low value too but much better hardware and double the power inside, if anyone can get their paws on that it would be a fantastic deal but to my knowledge its not in the UK.

I meant that it will run like a dog unless you don't mind spending more time closing every app before starting a new one. It's painful.

I got a couple for my young children 5 & 9 and they like them. They have about a dozen games on them and whatsapp. If they get lost or damaged I won't de too bothered.

512mb RAM has nothing to do with how many apps you can store.

Just to clear things up for people:
-Can be unlocked for 99p with eBay code
-FastTrack at Argos gets around the #10 topup requirement as the transaction goes through online, rather than the instore till system. Topup vouchers can't be purchased online so it just skips it.
-It runs Android 4.4 KitKat, very near to vanilla with very little customization, and almost all branding/bloat can be uninstalled
-It only has 512MB RAM. It can run basically any app out there, even the majority of games will play fairly smoothly. However it can not multitask. You must close the last app before launching the next app or it slows to a crawl. If you can deal with that, 22.49 is a great price.
I paid 25 for mine and used it for a week while my Nexus 6 was away for repair. Far from great, but it was usable, and if you aren't coming from one of the best, flagship smartphones it will be an even better experience.

Worth a punt. I've Fast tracked it but no idea how that works. I don't use Argos much. At least if there are issues you can return. Never again will I order from likes of Gearbest.

You pay online so when you go to store you just need to collect.

But apps still keep getting bigger and bigger. My 512mb kk os phone is now sitting in a drawer as it can't handle more than a few apps without running out of storage

A couple of years ago (or so), flagships boasted 512mb ram. Agreed , current Android versions need more, but this model is probably wisely stuck on Kit Kat ( or Gingerbread  )

As a basic handset, its a fab price. Even GearBest can`t beat this for value.
