Saw one of these when I was camping in Scotland this year. It was the bigger version and was assembled in no time. Looked great. Can see it cheaper anywhere else but it is an Early Black Friday deal so will not be around long.
Hope it is of use to someone for next years Camping.

Flippin' HUKD!!!!! Just purchased - have been kicking myself about the missed Berghaus milletts airbeam tent deal with free porch back in the spring all summer, but much prefer the look of this tent. 2015 model too so hopefully all the earlier glitches with Vango airbeams have been sorted - all I could find are great reviews for this model. If I need to buy a porch / awning for the front then the total cost will be pretty much what the Berghaus deal was so I think I am VERY Happy!!! Thanks OP. Bought from Milletts as potential 6.06% TCB. Also available in the smaller 500 size for £250.

You had a lucky escape, there was nothing Berghaus about those tents, they were made under licence by Black's.
The only problem with Vango airbeam tents is they have tension straps inside the tent which really eat into interior space - daft design idea.

Looks a good deal (with a fairly good rain proofing at 4000HH), but unfortunately bought an Outwell tent last year so can't buy another for a few years.

That porch looks a bit fragile! Do these things really withstand any gusty wind?
I'm not sure I'll ever switch from my Helsport Lavvu which didn't budge during torrential rain and gale force winds in north wales.

In my experience they work well and stop the tent from flexing sideways. On the Vangos I've had, you can just unclip them and stuff them back into their storage pocket if you don't like them. I wouldn't recommend it though.

Very tempted but have just bought a second hand Montana 6 with extension but it's huge and heavy.. Would this be ok for family of 4 and a dog? Any idea whether there are any extensions for it? Thanks

There is a side extension: Vango Airbeam Excel side awning which comes in two sizes: small and large as far as I can see rrp around £200 but less on some sites.

I have been using a Vango kela this year. As they don't have poles, they are faily bulky. I never used the internal wind braces all summer and had no issues. Depends on your campsite! I've since traded last month for an Outwell. The quality is far better.

so very tempted with this. i currently have a 10 person tent which is huge, which is good for us, but the poles and tent take up my entire estate boot!
Are you sure? It looks to me like they only beat by 10% where a competitor is cheaper, which in this case they aren't.
All part of the same company anyway!

Yes it does; the tent comes as pictured above in the deal. The optional extra porch awning side extension is this

yes, that's built in. you just roll it away if it gets windy / at night.

A lady and her 6yo son had one of these (not sure which size) next to us in Cornwall this summer. She put it up on her own in a very short space of time. It seemed a great tent but I agree about the porch - there was a spell of hideous wind / rain -it was the first time ever I was up in the night hanging on to guy ropes / tent - it was on my Outwell driveaway awning which was ripped by the morning. The Vango porch was billowing and blowing like mad and did collapse but it rolls away really quickly if it does get too windy and the tent seemed very solid.

Presumably the main tent has a sealed groundsheet. How does that work if you buy the porch extension?
Hamish402 to OB1
24 Nov 151#28
The extension doesn't encroach into the tent's footprint. The roof goes over the tent and the extension joins to the side with access through the side door. Hope that makes sense?!

does anyone know if you can get sides and front for the porch

25 Nov 15#38
I have looked and can't find anything. If this canopy had sides I wouldn't have hesitated for a second - a sheltered canopy is such a massive plus on a tent imo. This is a big canopy so it is a plus but I prefer to be more sheltered / private! Interestingly the 2016 models seem to have a smaller canopy but with sides. However there only seems to be a 400 and 500 version at £500ish. The open canopy is used on other vango tents so obviously not being written off as a bad design!

Thanks.
So the extension really isn't for use as part of the main tent in wet weather.
labdab
25 Nov 151#33
Hi, it can be used in wet weather. One extensions come with a footprint and small toggles to attach it to the main tent so it feels a part of it. I will prob use this side bit for wet boots, food/kettle storage and some seats and keep the main enclosed but for if its raining. The open bit at front with windbreakers will be good for cooking and sitting (if there's any sun!) x

The extension retails for £250 but I have found it for under £200 for the larger size. I haven't found another 6 person airbeam tent for under £500 other than Millets own Berghaus branded tent (£486). On most websites the tent in this deal is still £400. Hope that helps.

The Eurohike Hampton 6 seems another good option, bigger, less money, but not airbeam and 3000mm rather than 4000mm.
It seems to now be out of stock, millets, blacks and ultimateoutdoors have removed the listings.

Anybody know whether a vango Universal non airbeam awning will fit the solaris 600?

Brilliant, I was wondering how well the non airbeam awning would work with this tent, now I see!
Wonder how well it would work to move the awning forward so it covers the door then the side of the main tent porch.
