They weren't "filmed in HD", they were shot on 35mm film and that was the entire series, the new mini-series was shot with high-definition cameras. They went back to the negatives a few years ago to master the series in high-definition.
I'm looking forward to the Blu-rays, the DVDs aren't great quality, so the BDs will be huge improvements, it's a shame they haven't given us the option to watch the first four seasons in their original aspect ratios (as Fox have both 4:3 and 16:9 masters), but they may release them one day ...

Netflix have updated their streaming version of complete X-Files to HD too so you can watch it legitimately if you so wish.

Decent price, but I think I'll hold out to see the price of the blu-ray version once released.

X-files complete series BLU-RAY boxset arrives in UK December 8th or 9th. Amazon, HMV and Zavvi are just 3 of the stockists. So then, We Are Not Alone for much longer lol

The early episodes were all filmed in HD and all available 'on line'.

X files was released on Video and laserdisc also bluray is available for pre-order.
I will give you 8mm but does not hurt to have the format in description.

Come on Mulder, by process of deduction you can answer that one yourself.
Let's assume Laserdisc. VHS and 8mm are dead materials when it comes to commercial video reproduction. Also as there is currently no Blu Ray release and as it stands there does not look like one is in the pipeline.
