Def not del duque, looks more like the beaches just east of Santa Cruz! We have an apartment in Adeje and I agree that yes sun is more likely in the south in the winter but the north can be equally as sunny, it's just a bit more hit and miss late in the year. We stayed in Peurto Cruz for a night back in October and it was sunny all morning but clouded over in the afternoon, a lot more culture in the north though!

Not quite true about sun in South only. Just come back from Tenerife 2 weeks ago. Nice and suntanned 29 degrees most of time, cloudy late in day but that was all. 7 days £290 each fully inclusive - all meals were great. Wouldn't entertain unless fully inclusive as it's amazing how much you can spend on drink and meals. Tenerife is lovely at any time but as said the North is very cloudy at the best of times. South was even hotter while there, mid high 30s, but we were midway up Tenerife, although it's listed by some as the North, Las Caletillas area.

I wasn't quite saying that you will have no sun if you go North, but if you want the best chance of Sun then the South i.e. Los Cristianos to Adeje is your best bet, Golf del Sur is also good. You were quite near the South but most importantly you were South of Teide which is what determines the North/South split in climate and weather on the Island.
The picture on Holiday Pirates web site is also a bit misleading as its of a beach in the South (Playa del Duque) by the look of it.
I meet lot's people who get sold a "cheap" holiday in Tenerife and end up in Puerto de la Cruz only to find it can be a bit cloudier than the South and wonder why it took them two hours to transfer.
However I do love the North, way more Spanish/Canarian and lush and green and amazing food and very reasonable prices.

Depends. If you get the big fat mama searching you at Tenerife airport my misses got, I would say no.

Just as a note, Icod de los Vinos is North Tenerife, and quite high up and is likely to be cloudy at this time of year. It's also about as far away as you could get from TFS airport, at least an hour and a half by car via TF1 or longer if you go over the top. By bus it will take forever. However saying all that it's stunning there and if you get good weather it will be amazing and the polar opposite of Playa de las Americas, however if you want Sunshine, I am afraid South is the only place to go.

There is a great but slightly freaky doll museum in ICod run by a slightly mad Danish bloke, good fun though, worth a visit!
