I spent hours playing them all (Sony, bose, etc) last time I visited the states (@ best buy) and actually bought the x33. Price quality could not be beaten (was £60 when I bought it but £100 in the uk)
It's an amazing little speaker that sounds 100 times better than the anker speaker I had. For. This price you will not be disappointed.
Good find op

Any idea of the weight of this?
I'm looking for a compact speaker for traveling that comes in under £30 ideally. I've seen an Anker one at just over £20 that gets solid reviews

Does anyone know if this would be a good upgrade for TV sound? (For the parents with a telly with weedy sound). I was thinking something like this might be good dual purpose speaker, to act as a soundbar but also do a job as an outdoor Bluetooth speaker.

If you want a system that can handle louder sound, is it worth paying £15 extra and getting the X55?

I have the previous version, the x3 and it's fantastic. I believe the x33 is very similar in sound quality with the added bonus that the battery lasts twice as long. It's heavier than it looks but still very portable. An absolute bargain at this price.

I have one. Very good sound for the size. Weighty sound with a reasonable bass. Rubbish as a hands free phone though. Shame it doesn't come with the case which is damn near impossible to source.
Thanks OP - ordered from amazon as same price on there now and in stock - cheers - should be good for camping and bbqs next year

Ordered from Argos as they knock £1 off for fast track orders. Looking forward to getting this from the reviews I've read. Was tempted by the x55 but it's much larger and at 20 watts this should be a decent step up from the x-mini I'm still using!!

I have the x3 and I really like it. It was an upgrade from a little XMI-Mini and I had listened to a quite a few speakers in-store before choosing the X3. This is my opinion of the x3 (the x33 has improved some of the cons )
Pros
The bass is better than most other speakers of this size/price (including the more expensive Bose Soundlink Mini in my opinion).
The sound is loud enough to fill a medium room.
Sound quality relatively clear and punchy.
Stereo
Nice and weighty with good build quality.
Easy to use bluetooth
Practical speaker shape that sits solidly and will direct sound in the direction you point it.
Cons
Battery only lasts a few hours (but is improved on the updated x33)
When battery drops to 25% it automatically reduces volume by half which can be annoying (this may have changed on x33)
When running at max volume it uses dsp to reduce the bass resulting in a harsher sound.
Sound can distort a little a full volume - it's best to run it at 80% volume or less
Could do with being a touch louder (see above)
It's heavy for it's size so this may be an issue for you.
Re gaming - I've just tried Borderlands and Skyrim through it and it's clear and loud enough (depends how loud you want it?). Not sure if it would be much better than inbuilt TV speakers for gaming as the stereo image is a little flatter due the speaker's size. I think it would depend on where you place the speaker and your distance from it.
Re the X55 - I've heard the X5 in store and I thought it sounded good - If I was going to buy another speaker I would definately consider the x55 (for the extra volume) but I believe there are pros and cons with that speaker also.
